My two offseason wishes:
1) Address the rotation.
2) Unload Noot.

No one would have blamed him for not running on a foul ball clearly off his foot he should have stayed put and argued and ump would have asked for help. By running he made it look like it was the right callcbcloud wrote: ↑22 Sep 2025 21:18 pm...Blame that on the HP ump... If he dosen't call "foul" immediately, ya gotta run. Makes no difference of the batter's opinion... Walker woulda been criticized if he DIDN'T run... Whole crew of umps blew that call... SOMEBODY should have seen the ball hit off Walker's foot...

If you are correct, he still did the wrong thing by not just staying at first. Too many baserunning blunders...Whatashame wrote: ↑22 Sep 2025 21:15 pm
Walker did the right thing. If he doesn’t hear anything he has to run. Standing there and getting thrown out would have looked worse. Only if Saggese would have just ran and not umpired the play.

Excellent post! It's easy to forget that a part of the batter's box is in fair territory. Would like to see another replay now.ramfandan wrote: ↑22 Sep 2025 21:16 pmIf a the ball is batted off the foot , it can be a ball 'in play' if the umpire determines the foot was in fair territory at the time it was struck .
Here is summary of the rule :
Yes, a ball hitting the batter's foot and going fair is considered a fair ball in play, provided the batter's foot is in fair territory when it'(poop). The location of the ball determines fair or foul, not the location of the batter's body or feet when the ball hits them, but the part of the body that is hit. The ball remains in play.
So that is why Walker had to run that ball out .

Nice hit on that low pitch Burleson!

Oh think he is trying, he’s just disappointed and probably trying too hard.

Here is the rule : The umpire ruled the ball was 'in play' based on the following :

The umpires know rules that most fans have no clue about . Sure Oli knows that rule too but he was probably arguing that Walker's foot was NOT in fair territory is my guess . Now I do not know the following as I am not an umpire or have a rule book .. just a guess that play is probably non-reviewable just like a ball trickling down the foul line between home plate and first )or third , and the home plate umpire rules the ball fair or foul. Those calls are Non-reviewable too .. balls that land PAST 1s base bag or 3rd base bag are reviewable for fair or foul calls.

That is what puzzled me, and the way Saggese walked toward home. Just stupid base running all around.slimjay63801 wrote: ↑22 Sep 2025 21:21 pmIf you are correct, he still did the wrong thing by not just staying at first. Too many baserunning blunders...Whatashame wrote: ↑22 Sep 2025 21:15 pm

Walker should not have been thrown out at second though

I can't believe the 1b ump didn't immediately call time and yell foul ball.
