Late on this but someone needs to tell Pereira to never challenge again. He clearly doesn't have the judgment or sense to make that decision. Two outs and nobody on when you're the 8 hitter and it's not egregious? Please stop wasting challenges

...I lurk over on Redzone, the very good Cincy game forum, and "borrowed" this (without permission) from a poster there... Seems like a good idea for the manager to have something like this, and tell the batter before he steps in the box whether he is allowed to challenge a marginal call...Oli could have this on his I-Pad and help him AND some of those making poor challenges...

"If you're under 75% success rate at challenging pitches, you should not be able to challenge them before the 8th inning.

If your OBP if below .333, you should never be allowed to challenge a pitch before the 9th inning.

If your OBP is below .320, you should never be allowed to challenge a pitch.

If your OBP is below .310 and you challenge a pitch and fail, you should be fined $1K.

If your OBP is below .300 and you challenge a pitch and fail, you should be fined $5K.

If your OBP is below .280 and you challenge a pitch and fail, you should be fined $10K.

If your OBP is below .260 and you challenge a pitch and fail, you should be fined $50K.

If your OBP is below .240 and you challenge a pitch and fail, you should be traded or DFA'd within 24 hours."

That last one is pretty severe, but would sure cut down on bad challenges...
