Ok I'll start it..........
Power hitter in the leadoff spot (yea I know he's got speed too and TGKS/Ohtani hit there) but we don't have the hitters those two team do behind those guys and don't we want that power bat in the MOTO?
Rock, how many times did AP, Edmonds, Rolen, Holliday, Berkman, Beltran leadoff?
ZERO
And unlike Ohtani & TGKS who not only have superstar hitters behind them, they also have LARGE OB%'s.
Hey I hope Bez goes 4 for 4 and score 3 runs
I wouldn't waste that big bat behind Pages & EP though.
JMO
Beltran hit leadoff several times when he made his September debut in 1998. And also began the 1999 season at leadoff
Baez stole 50+ bases in the minors last year. Underrated aspect of him leading off today

Ohtani has hit 11 leadoff homers this season WITH NOONE on base……brilliant.
Yea I loathe this "strategy".
Wasting Ohtani, Judge, TGKS's, Woods power bats .............also hate them in the #2 hole where we've seen the Angels waste M. Trout's.
And the reason 3/4 of those teams are doing "well" isn't because of this dumb move, it's because they spend money and have superstar bats behind Ohtani, Judge and TGKS.

Ohtani would have 20-30 more RBI if he hit down in order and he’d still be on base for the other monsters in Dodgers lineup……what’s the rationale here?

We have 2 of the top RBI hitters in baseball hitting 3rd and 4th, both are top 21 in OPS in baseball. And our 2nd hitter is also a pretty solid hitter, too.
And Baez does more than just hit HRs. Heck if you're sitting around for that HRs, you're going to be disappointed more often than not. A 30 HR hitter is an average of 5 HRs per month out of like 28 games.

How many times did Schwarber? Ohtani?
Moran
And you are only guaranteed to leadoff the beginning of the game

But not as a Cardinal which I think was GF's point.
And he had over 10 times more PA's hitting 3rd in his career over those few lead-off PA's his rookie and early 2nd season.

When Beltran was a Cardinal we had the pitcher hitting 9th. When he was a rookie and did it he was in the AL with the DH. There is a difference between the two aspects.

And w/Baez hitting 5th that only LEGTHENS the lineup even more while stressing the pitcher.
Respect your opinion as always
But mine is he's NOT a leadoff hitter
He's a MOTO bat and if he steals after getting a single that drives in two runs from the MOTO, even better.

How many RBI have the Dodgers and Ohtani forfeited hitting leadoff? 11 leadoff HR this year of his 27…..thats HUGE

I dont mind baez leading off for a game against a left handed opener who may not be around in the second inning. It’s doubtful oli will do it very often but in this case I get it.
