Cards haven't been at .500 since April 13

I think we all need to recall at the start of the season, almost every pundit and almost everyone on this site predicted a 90 loss(or somewhere close to that) for this team. Seems to me we should all be thankful.....but I'm often wrong.

My goal at season's start was simple. Build for the future and avoid last place. I'm satisfied with the former, but the latter has crept into uncertainty, partly because the division is much stronger than anyone expected.

If you asked me my biggest concern right now:
It would be NOT getting clarity on certain players.
In other words.....keep or get rid of??
Example- before ST I wanted direction on Walker & Gorman. No more kicking the can down the road!
I would say YES for Walker and NO for Gorman.

Obviously we want more YES votes than NO votes.
But...at least a NO defines a need Bloom can address next offseason.

One area where we disagree. I think Gorman is not a "no" but a "hell no!" We also need clarity on our catching prospects but don't have that yet. Burly? He's a keeper in my book (a yes, not a hell yes). Nootbaar. I like Noot but I'd like to see them trade him for worthy prospect.

LOL....I was being kind just saying NO to Gorman.
As for Catching?
Crooks currently getting his “turn” but not encouraging.
I could see Bernal soon!
He might be the answer? Rodriquez probably a year away?
Noot? Who knows?

The good news is there are a lot of candidates in the catching pipeline. That should light a fire under every one of them as opportunities won't be near as many as they were for the likes of Gorman, or Walker for that matter.

Funny, I am 64 and was just thinking about all the catching prospects I have seen come up through the Cardinals system. Like Terry Kennedy, who had RoY hype surrounding him. I was at Busch for his major league debut. Standing O. Todd Zeile, Tom Pagnozzi, Eli Marrero, and then Yadi.
