It's not a top 5 move. But I was looking up some old Blues rosters. And Armstrong gave up nothing to get Elliot. I was shocked to see he had years of .940 and .930 save percentages. He also had a couple of other good years before he was traded for 2 draft picks. One that ended up being Kyrou.

I thought Army did a fantastic job while he was here, but those last two were just “fortunate bounces”.
Yeo was a disaster and Chief was coaching our minor league team, it’s not like there was a grand plan.
But for Allen shirting the bed and Husso’s knee injury, we might never have heard of Binnington

Maybe, but he didn't sign with Vegas until after Krug was signed signaling The Blues had moved on.

Before Krug was signed, Petro formally turned down the Blues again. The Blues initially gave him 1 year less term but higher average. Petro's camp wasn't happy with that as they wanted full NMC, by the time the whole proceedings got done, he had gotten the exact same offer that Vegas offered him but Petro didn't like how it went down and declined it.

If Petro wanted to be in STL he would have been in STL. During that covid season he had repeatedly said he'd like to play in front of his family in Toronto as he has played in front of his wifes family in STL. Was there any truth to this? WHo knows. TO me it always looked like a way to force the Blues to the bargaining table and get leverage on them. The fact that he didn't end up signing in Toronto kind of alludes to that.

While that is an Army fumble, that example wasn't necessarily in his control. I know a lot of you guys have disagreed with me, but the Oshie decision was 100 percent in Army's control. He gets the blame or credit for making that move. TJ even did an interview I think with the Tkachuks where he said he had 0 desire to leave STL. He felt almost a bit blind sided because he felt like they were blaming him for the playoffs not going well and he thought he was giving maximum effort. As someone else noted, that was really more of a culture trade than anything, very familiar with the Kyrou recent trade I believe.
