Well, it worked today in the top of the 9th.
Herrera hits into too many gidp's to be in the 2 spot. Yes, when his OB was around .400, it worked, but was that ever a sustainable clip for IH?
Anyway, IF Noot doesn't get traded, have him and Wetherholt in the top 2 spots, then Walker, then Burly and Herrera followed by Winn for your top 6 in the lineup.

His on base % was overrated due to his being hit so often. That has stopped and his on base has plummeted.

He’s hitting .220 .256 .268 .524 in the 10 games since he was moved to 2nd. He was hitting .237 .310 .368 .678 in the 10 games before that. He hit .229 .283 .229 .512 in a 13 game stretch earlier this season. He hit .275 .293 .325 .618 in a 10 game stretch before that. And the was a 13 game stretch before that when he hit .216 .305 .255 .560. And of course there were the two years before that in which he was one of the worst players in the league.

I don’t think moving him to 2nd in the order is the cause of his struggles.

Cards Talk doesn't like stats, they just want to blame Oli for anything and everything. Just save your time looking things up. I posted a whole string of stats that went ignored yesterday in between all of the crying about a lineup structure where all 9 guys can't hit.

Let's look at a different example.

Your closer is leading MLB in saves. Your 8th inning set-up man starts to struggle. Is it a good plan to flip those gys to try and get your set-up reliever back on track, nope. Horrible plan.
You dont sacrifice one player in efforts to get the other one going.

Because hes trying to hit like a cleanup hitter.

He is not a cleanup hitter. In a normal lineup he should hit fifth or sixth. His OBP dropped a long time before he was put in the cleanup spot. Lots of ground balls to third, short, or second.

I agree. I have been watching his ABs since the break.
They started off pretty good and have been regressing ever since.
He was hitting with confidence before and for a few games after.
He just couldn't square pitches up, maybe a carry over from the lollipops he saw in the break.

Now you can see his lack of confidence with has struggles.
He is swinging again st more down and out pitches with bad posture.

One good thing he is still putting the ball in play and getting some hits with better bat to ball skills.
Hits are still coming but he hasn't had a good launch angle.

I think he will get it fixed this year, just hope it is soon!!
