And R. Stanek if he's off limits
Possibly Noot?
Or could there be a (somewhat) surprise.................Burly, Herrera, Pallante ect....?
He must want to stay a Cardinal

They probably are. The reason I had asked was because of the debate ive been in on another thread. I do not understand the current philosophies of the game. Claiming rbi's aren't important because they aren't "measurable" makes no sense to me.rockondlouie wrote: ↑02 Aug 2026 12:35 pmNope, why I brought up Stewart's stats that I've been watching now for a long timeJuanAgosto wrote: ↑02 Aug 2026 12:12 pmC'mon, Rock. and Thx Oli for giving JJW a day off.
The kid is obviously running down in his rookie season and needs more days off so he can stave off
S. Stewart (23 HR/84 RBI/.810 OPS and yes I have a fear too many voters are going to look at the traditional counting stats over JJW"s superior fWAR) for ROY!
But
If you listen to those who do "blow them off", then they'd swear JJW's a "lock" given his superior fWAR that values his all round game (hitting, fielding, baserunning) over Stewarts back of the baseball card stats.
But baring a BIG Aug/Sept from JJ or a complete collapse from Stewart, I think JJW's ROY chances are slipping away.

We lack overall talent, not much of value to trade.82birds wrote: ↑02 Aug 2026 12:57 pmtrue, IMO12xu wrote: ↑02 Aug 2026 12:54 pmJust not many teams will offer anything more than a Roycroft level reliever for him.82birds wrote: ↑02 Aug 2026 12:50 pmNoot keeps lowering his trade valuerockondlouie wrote: ↑02 Aug 2026 12:48 pmD. All Cards pitchers know giving up 2 or more runs is probably a loss. That goes for starters and relievers. Don't think that has not taken its toll.

I remember a huge cover story in a baseball magazine I bought as a kid:
RBI's = MVP's
I've followed the metrics since B. James first published a little pamphlet (and that's what it was) I sent away for from an ad in my TSN.
But I don't let them override my decades of baseball knowledge, season tickets seeing more games in person than 99% of the people in here and sixteen years of playing experience. I still love the back of the baseball card stats too.
