Who's playing their last game today as a Cardinal?
A goodly mumber of them, I hope, including II and III. A man can dream.

Who's playing their last game today as a Cardinal?
someone who isn't playing today is most likely.
D. May of course

And R. Stanek if he's off limits

Possibly Noot?

Or could there be a (somewhat) surprise.................Burly, Herrera, Pallante ect....?
Noot keeps lowering his trade value
He must want to stay a Cardinal
Just not many teams will offer anything more than a Roycroft level reliever for him.
true, IMO

and Thx Oli for giving JJW a day off.

The kid is obviously running down in his rookie season and needs more days off so he can stave off
S. Stewart (23 HR/84 RBI/.810 OPS and yes I have a fear too many voters are going to look at the traditional counting stats over JJW"s superior fWAR) for ROY!
C'mon, Rock. Don't tell me you are another one who blows off the traditional stats?
Nope, why I brought up Stewart's stats that I've been watching now for a long time

But

If you listen to those who do "blow them off", then they'd swear JJW's a "lock" given his superior fWAR that values his all round game (hitting, fielding, baserunning) over Stewarts back of the baseball card stats.

But baring a BIG Aug/Sept from JJ or a complete collapse from Stewart, I think JJW's ROY chances are slipping away.
They probably are. The reason I had asked was because of the debate ive been in on another thread. I do not understand the current philosophies of the game. Claiming rbi's aren't important because they aren't "measurable" makes no sense to me.

We lack overall talent, not much of value to trade.

Ol' "Brown Eye" is about to pass Walter freakin' Johnson in career strikeouts and he is stoked to reach that milestone vs his old hometown team.

Meh.JJ has been struggling at the plate for awhile. Stewart plays multiple positions and seems to be getting better each month.
So you agree, Stewarts got a real shot at ROY?
Chicks dig the long ball but I believe WAR will win out. However, gotta see how the next 2 months play out

But, magically, by 2028, we will be competing in the WS, right? 🥸

All Cards pitchers know giving up 2 or more runs is probably a loss. That goes for starters and relievers. Don't think that has not taken its toll.

I just laugh my a z z off at those morons

I remember a huge cover story in a baseball magazine I bought as a kid:

RBI's = MVP's

I've followed the metrics since B. James first published a little pamphlet (and that's what it was) I sent away for from an ad in my TSN.

But I don't let them override my decades of baseball knowledge, season tickets seeing more games in person than 99% of the people in here and sixteen years of playing experience. I still love the back of the baseball card stats too.
