I don't have the particulars.

That, plus their broadcasting market being...LA...do the math...gets them here every time.

So if you see some chud saying that you're mad because your team won't spend like LA... it's not true. My team won't, no doubt. But it also can't. Literally can't. Even if they had the same sweetheart deal.
While this is true, even if they didn't it wouldn't matter. The Dodgers ownership group has pretty much unlimited spending power just from their own pockets outside of any team revenue. For instance, they could eat bad contracts and throw another one in it's place and not sweat a bit. They could loss hundreds of millions every year and write it off like it's nothing.
Also demonstrably true.

Now throw in the TV deals, and the fact that Japan continues to print monopoly money for them , its kind of an unbeatable formula..
They put more money into it than anyone. The technology they had was the best. I remember 15 years ago when I was trying to get internships in baseball the Dodgers were the team everyone wanted to be with because of that. And that was 15 years ago, so I'm sure it's even more now.

You are correct there is much more to it than $$$. I will also say they are better marketers than this organization regardless of their market size.
It's not too difficult to market a team of superstars including a one of a kind guy like Ohtani.

All of their advantages are the result of them being able to print money in that market.

Which superstar player do the Cards currently have to market?
They have the brains in LA to spend for the stars and then market them. The fact the Cards don’t have a superstar is their own fault because they can’t see past their nose.

Can you please cite some reasons that point to LA as a thriving city at present?
Economics.
The GDP of Los Angeles is triple that of the entire state of Missouri.

To play Devil’s advocate, they can spend for the stars due to the revenue from a much larger market, and can market them to said huge market, one much larger than StL. That’s reality, and one the Cardinals need to be smart to overcome.

The money dynamics didn’t hurt the cardinals chance to compete a terrible front office did

Dodgers print money and care nothing about the luxury tax. They are singlehandedly destroying the game.

The printing money is only part of it the Mets and Padres print and spend money and don’t win anything the dodgers have one of if not the best front offices, draft and development systems and they print money

And they have done it with Glasnow and Snell. They pay them millions, keep them on IR all year and break them out for starts just before the post season.

Most of which came when St. Louis was a major city.
1950 - 8th largest City in US with around 700,000 residents. It was the 7th or 8th ever since the 30s.
1968 - 15th to 17th largest
Today - 89th in total U.S. city population with roughly 273,000 residents
Even the metro population is 27th largest. A very small market in a location that sucks.

The city is facing lower than projected tax revenue, huge legal liabilities, huge budget shortfalls. It’s essentially an insolvent city. Homelessness is up despite billions of dollars thrown at the problem. The wildfires were managed terribly and the aftermath is getting managed worse. The population growth is negative and Hollywood is dying. Thriving is not the adjective I’d use

That and the quality of life thing.......beaches, perfect climate, night life, resturants, entertainment. The list is pretty much endless.
