Wow. Shocked they didn’t at least try to throw him a deadline deal before the Dfa.

Still can. DFA means they have 10 days to work a trade or release him. You’re probably thinking of waivers.

Thinning the herd.

You rebuild at all minor league levels.

Better players come along and others fall by the wayside.

Hence unable to stay healthy was unfortunate but its time to move on.

I have no idea if Hence has an ego.
And I suspect he would rather continue his career than move to a front office role.

Good point.
And I was the only person on the planet who correctly advised in the fall of 2022 (and the years which followed) that the Cardinals should trade him.
Said he would never be an effective MLB starter.
Said he was simply too slight of build and stature to make it.
I was, of course, correct.
The trick is to be free of bias, free of agenda, and free of personal investment.
Simply follow available facts to the most like outcome.
That is why my accuracy rate now stands at 96.91%.
Hence will be 24 in a couple of weeks.
Still young enough for another team to take a chance on his as organizational filler.
Wish him well.
Perhaps he shows up as a middle inning relief pitcher and gets to make it to the show - even if only briefly.
My advice to everyone else?
