Looks pretty good to me, masterclass in asset management from the Blues

Good take. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑16 Jul 2026 09:36 am It means the Blues want to be competitive this season and they feel it’s too risky to put 2nd line center duties on a 21 year old who’s played 70 nhl games. They probably also don’t want to mess up his development by putting too much pressure on him before he’s able to handle it.
A guy picked 10th overall can’t really be compared to a generational talent like Celebrini or guys that were taken first overall. Maybe one day you’ll figure out the how the nhl draft, your singular obsession, actually works.

Who knows what was going but Thomas really struggled in his 21 yr it was the COVID shortened season. But in his 22 yr old season he blew up for 77 pts again that was a 109 pt team with firepower
Im not really expecting Dalibor to be a big point producer for a year or two at least, mid 20s

Most NHL fans are aware that the goal for your top 2 centers is to have an elite pair that is as good as any other pair in the league...
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/746734 ... est-worst/
Here in St Louis, however, nirvana is simply...
1. Depth at Center....
2. Can move to the wing if necessary...
The important questions are never considered and discussed.
Will our pair ever match up well with the best? Barkov and Bennet, McKinnon, and Nelson?
What is the path forward to acquire that talent? McTavish is on the bus for 5 more years!

Smelly, you do not know what other people think.
Florida is in a "window". Prior, they made the playoffs TWICE in EIGHTEEN seasons. 2 for 18. Good luck selling that approach.

Re: Dvorsky?
Since 2013, Florida has gotten to watch a HOFer in their jersey every game, 13 years.
Meanwhile, in St Louis, the last potential HOFer left 7 years ago, and there is NO HOFer ON THE NEAR HORIZON as the organization places winning at the cash register higher than winning a CUP.
Since 2013, Florida youth have known what name to put on their jersey.
Meanwhile, St Louis youth have no idea what name to use for years now. "Trade Bait" is the only one with staying power.

Youth hockey is exploding in St Louis. Blues’ TV ratings are amongst the highest in the country. Seats are almost completely filled most home games. HOFers must not be as important to others as they are to you. Plus, fortunately for you, you can just go down to Busch 3 now and see all the HOFers the Cards are throwing out on the diamond every night.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 13:54 pmSince 2013, Florida has gotten to watch a HOFer in their jersey every game, 13 years.

Re: Dvorsky?
There is another thread in these parts identifying Army's best moves. Do you find it interesting that not 1 person said that the re-whatever was brilliantly played? Dvorsky is the face of the re-whatever, and not one person identified Dvorsky as a great move.
Meanwhile over in San Jose, selecting Celebrini is recognized as a GREAT MOVE by everyone in the world.
And look what happened as a result? Shark fans EXPECT THE GM TO WIN THE CUP NOW. No excuses. What does this tell you?
The Sharks select Celebrini, and there are immediate expectations laid on the Sharks to win a CUP.
The Blues select Dvorsky, and 3 years later Blues fans hope that Dvorsky's role model (McTavish) can improve the club a little bit.
Now does it make sense to you why the Blues handled the re-whatever the way that they did? See how the expectations are intentionally kept low and attainable?

When I come back and visit family, I always go to Centene Community Ice Center. What a fabulous place. Well done STL!2forDiving wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 14:19 pmYouth hockey is exploding in St Louis. Re: Dvorsky?
I would point out that youth hockey was going strong even when the Blues were loading the van to move to Saskatoon. Likely a lot bigger now, but the sport was the driver, not the Blues W-L record.

HOFers do that. Kids love pomp and stardom, especially when they can wear it on the back of their jersey.
