for Dustin which based on Bloom's trades so far I have not been blown away from so far.
So funny. Last week ppl were calling May the worst pitcher in our rotation.

Few things:
1. Going back to the last TDL, bloom has done very well.
2. If we like May, we can always resign him in the offseason.
Who did Bloom get that is making any contributions to this team? The only ones I see are Dobbins and Blaze Jordan and Jordan hasn't been that great!

Let me know if we ever get back to playing for Pennants and World Series.
I'm with you all the way. Most of these SOBs on here are getting all excited about trading proven players for Prospects, guys who never played MLB and might not be able to. It effing pizzes me off!

Most of the trades weren’t intended for an immediate mlb impact.

If there was a deal even remotely close to being finalized, he would not have pitched at all tonight.
Players (including pitchers) are removed from games due to trades. Strange to remove him after 5 innings with literally no problems.
It was their compromise. He'd given some good innings, was not blown up and came out healthy. Except for resting the BP, there was little left to prove.
Maybe winning the game should've been in play?
It's not like they gave up. If I felt they were a playoff team and not just hope they somehow sneak in only to be bounced quickly I might care. But I know taking May out an inning or two early in a rebuild season is less risky than leaving him in too long and risking his trade value.
Exactly. A number of posters can't seem to understand that. Sure it's more fun to be winning and in contention, but it's going to take a lot of work for the front office and patience on the fans part to get there and to stay there.

I think it’s hilarious ppl don’t understand why we would remove May early.

Yep. It really makes a lot of sense. Of course those complaining are doing so because they either cannot accept the team not trading for current major leaguers and/or signing big name free agents. Or they aren't happy if they're not (bleep).

EC, I’m at a loss with your constant reference to the Cubs
Their payrolls during the 4 year run 2015-2018 were in the 3-6range in MLB and went higher in 2019 until ANOTHER REBUILD where they were bad
Then as they won again in 2025-‘26 their payrolls jumped to 225mil and up
So WTH does that have to do with the Current Cards situation??
You expect BDW to increase to a top 5 payroll and that’s when they start winning???? Great, start spending now>>>>into offseason>>>2027
every timeframe of Cubs winning was because they spent $$$$$, not creating a team of their own cheap prospects.

Yeah I'm checking sources but nothing yet.

If its done this soon they must really like the return.
It will be nothing like the return for Skubal.
Of course.

There's no comparison between the two.

Smart move too pulling him after that strong five innings.

Now just sit back and wait for the phone to ring!

Because Baez for PCA was definitely a product of a large payroll.

Why would it take all this work and patience. BDW slashed payroll by 80mil. Quick and easy fix. BUY THE MISSING SPOTs for starting lineup.
EC keeps bringing up Cubs…..they didn’t win until they spent money. Payroll last year was 225mil and it’s higher this year.
The only reason the team and fans have to sit through this debacle is BDW is cheap. Where is it written that drafting and Trading= not spending money
One thing has nothing to do with the other. If WC and Gray were here and still and they had a real manager on payroll this team would be fighting for division.

There is a huge difference between the person that builds the store and the person who shops at the store. The consumer goes to the store and wants what they want, and they want it now. The person that builds the store puts thought into where, how large, how much to spend, makes arrangements with suppliers, and a thousand other things. Lots of time, discipline, and process. We have both on the board here- it's not hard to tell who is who.
