Myself, I would not trade him. When your trying to improve your starting pitching staff, you don't trade one of your better pitchers just because you don't want to have to pay more $$$$ to have him play next year for the Cardinals. Resign him in the offseason. It better be a great haul
for Dustin which based on Bloom's trades so far I have not been blown away from so far.

Players (including pitchers) are removed from games due to trades. Strange to remove him after 5 innings with literally no problems.

It was their compromise. He'd given some good innings, was not blown up and came out healthy. Except for resting the BP, there was little left to prove.

He came here off arm injuries, worked hard, came to camp ready to pitch, and let his game do his talking as he is a team player.

He had some great and poor performances but lately has pitched well and to me has a great attitude.

I will be rooting for him the rest of the way.

It's not like they gave up. If I felt they were a playoff team and not just hope they somehow sneak in only to be bounced quickly I might care. But I know taking May out an inning or two early in a rebuild season is less risky than leaving him in too long and risking his trade value.

It's not like they gave up. If I felt they were a playoff team and not just hope they somehow sneak in only to be bounced quickly I might care. But I know taking May out an inning or two early in a rebuild season is less risky than leaving him in too long and risking his trade value.

If they were so scared one to two more innings would risk injury or value, then why even pitch him? Pretty pathetic that an organization whose team is 2.5 out of a WC spot is more concerned about trading than winning.

I understand so many say "rebuild and 2028!" I say bullsh!t. You've got a chance to compete now. Is Dustin May returning the organizational difference maker? No, hes probably returning a decent prospect. Something like what Saggese was in 2023. Is that more important than trying to win now?
