Busch stadium is an issue

Players hate playing here. They love the fan support but Busch is a horrendous park to play in especially during the peak summer heat. The construction projects have just amplified the issue and I fear the new millennium hotel project will make it even worse. There is just no air flow and the air just sits in the stadium and gets thicker and thicker.

Hot was Busch II in the closed bowl on the concrete with a 1\2 inch of plastic grass over it. Some of those teams were even able to bring in and retain some pretty good players who somehow managed to win a few games.

It has always played slightly favorable to pitchers. But if players truly hate it (doubtful), then they should've seen Busch 2 in the 70s and 80s. No airflow, deep fences, and the astroturf melting you during afternoon games.

I don't doubt that at all. Didn't Caray once work a game with little clothes on? I'm glad most stadiums at least have grass now. Fake turf was the worst.

So the theory used to be the Cubs played so many day games, they became more exhausted comped to the other teams as the season and summer took their toll.
Now maybe the Midwest heat and humidity + lack of air movement have similar effects in the Lou. The accumulated heat unit theory, lol. Cooked by August.
Idk, but would speculate Milwaukee's home stadium does help that team.
