Cards open 20-10 next year, he’ll be the biggest homer
Pathetic whining putz. LOL
He was the kid who took his ball and went home crying or got stuffed in his locker.
Doesn’t have the backbone or mental toughness for sports!
What’s mental toughness Cuse….getting plowed up the backside…smiling….saying “Thankyou, may I have another”
Your complacency and losing attitude doesn’t align with SPORTS
It's cool. You don't understand rebuilding.
Apparently the players don’t understand this rebuilding. This is what the thread is about. Do you have Winn’s DM so you can explain it to him and his teammates?
Sure they do. You're misunderstanding disappointment with not being supported.
   Sure EC
You're way too affected by Winn's disappointment.
The team has been going through the motions and losing badly(see tonight)….and then you see WINN’s comments. I’ll let attempt to piece things together. I wrote weeks ago that you don’t pull the rug on a young team who is competing for the division and leading the WC by telling them it’s not time for them to win…..wait for some magical date in the future. You must be the most clueless fan ever if you think that would go over well with ANY competitive athlete.
As I said, you don’t understand a rebuild.

Competitive athletes understand rebuilds. These are grown men.
You must be entirely clueless if you think a pro Athlete who is on a winning and competing team knowing that if a couple pieces are added that they could possibly win the division……….is alright with WAITING 2-3 yrs for the RIGHT time to start winning because the owner doesn’t want to spend $$
You have been brainwashed by this FO EC……there is NO guarantee that any team in the future will win more than this team was winning a couple weeks ago. No guarantee whatsoever. Every prospects or trade could blow up, bust, career ending injury. But thats what you’re asking a young competitive athlete to wait on. Specifically telling them THEY aren’t good enough. BDW has 80mil in his pocket….that’s all this is about.
You’re infantilizing the players.

They are competitors. They are probably dissapointed, partially with their roster.

But like the 2014 cubs, they also know the org is building for something.

Watch: once this team turns the corner, you’ll be a pig in shht, and these dumb OPs won’t even be talked about by you.
You keep bringing up Cubbies……they spent to #5 in MLB…..if you think BDW is doing that continue on your great rebuild fantasy

Masyn Winn is a bright kid. He knows how to read and it is highly unlikely he did not know the front office stance if the team coming into the year. If 'sell mode' hit him as a betrayal or took him by surprise, that's on him. Bloom has been up front about it from the start and probably moreso to the team than he has been with fans and the media.

I'm not doubting you, I just asked in an earlier post that I would like some context before I form an opinion on the quote.

Oh so they all agree they share responsibility in how the post trade line looks you kind of left that part out lol I’m not surprised you left that part out it kind of kills your argument
  What does that have to do with Winns quote?? Absolutely nothing

Did Winn or Bloom factor in being a couple game out of 1st and leading WC in late June?? Doubtful
Easy to go down rebuild road if not winning and nothing is expected.

That isn't context. What was the question asked if him. And was that single sentence the full extent of his answer. Were there previous questions\answers leading up to this question or were there follow-up questions\answers expanding on the comment.

Edit: before you tell me to look it up myself, I have never been nor will I ever will be on X\Twitter.
All I got man…..you need Elon’s neurolink into Winn’s skull???
No. As I said from the start, all I would like is some context before I form an opinion about his quote. If he was asked something like, "What are your thoughts on the upcoming trade deadline?" and he answered with that quote and walked away, I will, for the first time probably ever, agree with you 100%. But, I suspect there was a little more nuance to the discussion.

If you want to judge that single sentence without any other information, cool. But without context, you're just speculating. And, of course, your speculation will be the most negative take possible.

I played ball as most here probably have…..if I were playing everyday busting my (bleep) trying to win and was winning when no one thought we would…..and the leadership above said my team wasn’t good enough to put in some effort to help AND was planning to trade several guys who were key to us winning….I’d be (upset) and I’m sure the focus would wane. This is human nature. 2-10 tonight…….coincides perfectly with how they’ve been playing

Bloom has said all along that he isn't sacrificing the long-term plan for short-term success. That alone says, yes, he did consider they could over-perform. But, I'm sure, he could also see the consistently underperforming bullpen and the lack of offensive performance by half of the lineup and the utter lack of minor league depth ready to move up (a residual of the Mo era) would prevent them from sustaining that level of performance for 162 games. So, unlike the knee-keek reactionaries on anonymous message boards, he isn't playing video game GM, he's doing it for real.

And before you say he should have made moves earlier, I'll go ahead and respond that there are vanishingly few trades made pre-ASB and even fewer impact moves, and you know this.

Why not ban together as a group and win despite timelines and trades? As long as youre around, keep proving doubters wrong.

Maybe Bloom is evaluating who brings that attitude and who whines and gives up

Exactly. Problem with the Cubs, is they were like a snake that began to ear its taul.

The Chapman trade: great.
The Quintana trade: bad

And I called it when it happened. The 2017 cubs weren’t great. You have to dip into the farm sparingly.
