At this point, I wonder if they will lose every game between now and the deadline. Even if they held the top WC spot, Bloom would've traded pending free agents.

Honestly, Bloom should be willing to trade anyone not named Wetherholt. Go all Herzog 1980 & 81.

Maybe if Mase didn't suck all year, we wouldn't be in this position.
I’m assuming you’ve never played team sports….
I played baseball in college on a full ride. Masyn has not been great....what does that have to do with anything?
How many seasons would you be agreeable to lose……and in this case with this season, winning and being told no support to continue winning is coming and teammates will be traded. You’d be just fine with that, as a player?

Masyn Winn is expecting the Cardinals to sell. His fellow young veteran leaders are somewhat more circumspect.”

As I’ve been writing most of the season….you don’t tell a group of young competitive athletes who have been winning to sacrifice their very few athletic career winning opportunities because they are “good enough”……when they were good enough for 2.5mths. This team quit because “they knew they could win every game to the end of season and Bloom would still trade guys”
Not sure what more you would need to read…..
So it sounds like Bloom needs to purge out some quitters too. If Winn is a quitter , then they need to ship him outta there ASAP. The team doesn't need poison in the dugout.

They are being PAID to perform to the best of their ability….

If a player quits the club will no doubt notice and hopefully dump them…

I’d be (upset) too…..I see my team winning and the POBO is in press talking about offloading me teammates so they can win AT SOME POINT IN FUTURE

You should explain in great detail to Winn how he should be agreeable to losing these last few season…..this season….and seasons into the future….and then how wonderful it will be.
The only thing Winn needs explained is that he should play his best and hope his teammates are good enough to win. Leave the managing to the managers. Buzz off drama queen.

So what should he not trade anyone? I guess if Masyn wants to stay a .500 team
This wasn’t a .500 team. They were winning and playing their (bleep) off despite no help from FO in offseason, a chit manager, and being told repeatedly that their teammates who were helping them win……WOULD BE TRADED. This team quit. And why not. The owner and FO gave no support and told them they weren’t good enough.
I want no part of a player that quits
Then you should likewise want no part of an ownership that quit years ago.

Well whatever…..that’s the mood of the team. Now you know. And know why the uninspired losing since All-star break
Don’t think he’s the only one with these thoughts.

This thread has nothing to do with fans. You started the thread detailing players that quit on the team because one of their buddies might get traded.
Apparently these young quitters haven't followed MLB. Trades happen all the time. Did Winn feel bad for his minor league teammates when he jumped to the majors? No, he didn't give a sheet about them. For him it was all about Masyn. Well , its not always about Masyn. Time to man-up son. Show some pride in yourself and dont try blaming your failure on someone else.

This is who the Cardinals are. They are no more a mid market team but now a small market team like Pittsburgh, Tampa, Cleveland and hopefully Milwaukee. The days of 3 million fans and being able to outspend Cincy,Pittsburgh and Milwaukee are over. Ownership sees it and made the move to Bloom with orders to cut the payroll and sell the fans on a brighter future. Accept it or move on.

Will you please share a link to the Jeff Jones quote? Was this from the Belleville News [political party]? I’d be interested in reading the entire article. It looks like you shared an excerpt.

I’m sure the 2014 cubs were dejected when they sold at the DL….
