Apparently Oli made a point to Jeff Jones that the 15 day option period can be waived after a trade or injury.

The Cardinals are down O’Brien and Romero. They could keep themselves down another pitcher by keeping Dobbins on the roster for now, but I’m not sure that’s a smart move.

+1 it would be kind of silly to keep him up right now when he can’t pitch again for five days and like oli said he can be called up if there is a trade so it’s really much ado about nothing. It’s outrage just to be outraged without thinking

This is modern baseball, starting pitchers are throwing fewer innings across the league, so we need to generate as many quality innings as possible from Memphis.

The Cardinals announced that they have selected the contract of right-hander Peter Strzelecki. The 40-man roster had a vacancy that is now filled. Righty Hunter Dobbins has been optioned to Triple-A Memphis as the corresponding active roster move.

Some of The fan base is easily (upset) they were (upset) when bloom didn’t non tender pallante they were (upset) when pallante made the rotation they were (upset) when he didn’t send lehay back to the bullpen when he struggled they were (upset) when walker made the team out of spring training

99% of the fan base has no idea how roster management works. And these same fans outraged by the option of of Hunter Dobbins will be the first to demand his head the next time he gets lit up.

The Mo regime left the cupboard utterly barren of MLB ready depth. Bloom is playing with the Cards he was dealt. The only reason this downturn didn't happen earlier this season is because the Cards have had remarkable luck on the injury front.
