No, you’re not, and I’m old enough to remember when we only got a small handful of games on tv for the whole year.DIAMONDINTHEROUGH wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 00:11 am I guess I am the only one that remembers Wilson and Micheletti/Affleck working TV and radio at the same time for years.

Re: John Kelly
I will always be a JK fan because I learned to love hockey listening to DK. JK wasn’t as good as his dad but you knew they were related and he provided a great bridge. That said and knowing we aren’t going to get JK back, I think Kerber could be decent if he didn’t have a terrible color guy like Vitale with him. Agree with his ADD and inability to stay focused on the game. And his gravel-y voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
I would love to see some rotation of Rivers, McKenna, Oshie, and Eric Johnson (both when they don’t have national game obligations) doing games.

Agree with all of this. Oshie has been very engaging on the network broadcasts. An analyst should project personality but Vitale is outright silly at times, and those times are far too frequent.brianstlou2 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 11:11 am I will always be a JK fan because I learned to love hockey listening to DK. I remember Jack Buck trying to announce Blues hockey. Big heart, college try, but cringeworthy at best. Read his book, he knew he was a fish out of water. That's how I view Vitale, simply not cut out for the job. Though he could be fine, if he had any self-awareness and self-control.

This.
I really like Chris Kerber. In his best moments Vitale is still mildly irritating.

Let’s see what happens this year. Maybe someone said something to Joey in the offseason, and maybe he worked on some things.

Yeah, I'm just not seeing them making any drastic changes until they have a permanent solution in place as far as what their future broadcasting looks like. Whether it be strictly streaming, a local channel, or a bundled channel with the NHL Network. Until then they'll likely just stick with what they have for the cost certainty.

Which is why I shake my head every time someone says "the same broadcasters on TV and radio don't work" when it did work in the past. Replace Vitale with McKenna. And the broadcasts are much improved.netboy65 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 01:18 amNo, you’re not, and I’m old enough to remember when we only got a small handful of games on tv for the whole year.DIAMONDINTHEROUGH wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 00:11 am I guess I am the only one that remembers Wilson and Micheletti/Affleck working TV and radio at the same time for years.

I know you are. Just saying, like them or not, I think they’re what we’ve got for the foreseeable future

Wilson and Micheletti will always be my Mt. Rushmore.DIAMONDINTHEROUGH wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 00:11 am I guess I am the only one that remembers Wilson and Micheletti/Affleck working TV and radio at the same time for years.
I like Kelly-Pang and Kerber-Vitale fine since if I'm watching on television I can see what's going on. On the radio though Kerber and Vitale can be a tough listen. Some friends and I were at a bar-restaurant after and event last season and it broke up early in the 3rd period of a close game we were watching of TV. I got in the car and drove 20 miles before Kerber finally told the score - and then only going into a commerical break.
It was outrageous and completely against everything radio brodcasters are supposed to do. Some old baseball announcers would bring an egg timer hourglass and everytime it had to be turned over they'd work in the score. I nicely let Kerber know about it, but have no clue if he got the note or not.

Does McKenna have tv work? I'm not aware that he does.DIAMONDINTHEROUGH wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 14:17 pmWhich is why I shake my head every time someone says "the same broadcasters on TV and radio don't work" when it did work in the past. I believe he did pre and post game work for Vegas right after he retired.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 16:15 pmDoes McKenna have tv work? Unfortunately we are seeing interviews of parents in the stands during live play. Vitale is probably being told to talk more. The same thing is happening in MLB. The announcers have to provide entertainment instead of letting the game be the entertainment.
