Another short, logical point.
And I will add that other than the fact they now have a potential "hole" in net, it is fairly well recognized they are still considered a candidate to go very far in the playoffs.

Also the Blues haven't been past the second round since we had Pat Maroon on the roster.

Also you didn't address the clear example I gave about Thomas getting mugged.
Carolina brought in a luxury because they’re a defending champ and their lineup is set. He’ll play maybe 30 games and be in the press box unless there’s injury. Here you’re asking Johnston to dress regularly and play a key role here. We’re not a playoff team and lack talent to compete. It’s not an upgrade.

There are hundreds of "goons" at all levels of minor pro-hockey. Anyone whom "cannot skate" does not play in the NHL...period. Maybe they are not all like Paul Coffey, or Connor McDavid, or Nathan MacKinnon, or an Olympic figure skater, but they are all World Class skaters.

Everyone missing the point. PLD was kicked out of the game on a match and a major. Blues won 3-0 Caps had 21 shots in the game. Thomas came back to play in the game. How did we get pushed around if we won? That’s the end goal isn’t it?Old_Goat wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 09:26 amIt is beyond a weird comment...it weakens credibility. In the Central division who is tougher than Ross Johnston? McCarron, O Brien? Johnston hurt McCarron last year and had to let the refs save him and O Brien was no match either. Ross the Boss will affect games for the Blues, solid signing for Steen

Forgot about O’Brien in an earlier post when I listed just how many teams carry a physical presence on their 4th line. That guy is one of the worst when it comes to lack of hockey skills. 4 points last year and only dressed for 30+ something games. It’d be different if we gave Johnston $3-4m per year, or he was blocking someone, but he’s not. The ones who will be fighting to keep their jobs are Toro, Walker, and Sunny. Other than Toro, they have no trade value and could easily be waived. One of them will lose a job to a younger player at some point this season. Maybe not opening night, but Stenberg will NOT spend the entire year in the AHL.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:01 pm In the Central division who is tougher than Ross Johnston? I love the idea of a guy with the physical presence of Ross. Im a little old school in this manner like was mentioned above Ross can skate which makes him a weapon. Hes Torop +25 lbs and meaner. Plus the comments i kept hearing in articles was "good teammate" "locker room" "keeps guys accountable" these are the key intangibles the Blues may have lacked after losing Schenn for example.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 12:55 pmForgot about O’Brien in an earlier post when I listed just how many teams carry a physical presence on their 4th line. Why is Torop a given? If you insist on having Johnston now, then Torop is redundant at best. I’d give the spots to Berggren and Stenberg. Waive Walker, put a suit on Sunny and let him coach. Total guess on my part i think they like Torop, size, speed, good on the forecheck. He had some scoring ability or at least i thought he did 14 goals in '24 but only 8 goals since then. Hes on the bubble i think he makes the team though hes also more or less considered a RWnetboy65 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 13:19 pmWhy is Torop a given? Common gardening practice, if you want your plant/tree to grow, you have to prune the dead branches.
