Fine, then keep Johnston instead. Get rid of one of them though. That’s my whole point. Top 9 is fine, but we don’t need the whole lot of Johnston, Torp, Walker, Sunny, Finley etc. clogging up the roster. Way too much dead weight
We never needed Finley, and we no longer need Torop because his game is gone. I'm 100% fine with both gone because both are easy to replace with actual better players.
Finley, Torp and Walker need to go.

Another short, logical point.
And I will add that other than the fact they now have a potential "hole" in net, it is fairly well recognized they are still considered a candidate to go very far in the playoffs.

Also the Blues haven't been past the second round since we had Pat Maroon on the roster.

You gotta have a tough guy. It's a must.
Not in 2026 you don’t. You need guys that can play the game. See Ryan Reaves.
Carolina, who just won the cup, traded for an enforcer and signed him to an extension.

I have no idea what people who have your views are actually watching.

Also you didn't address the clear example I gave about Thomas getting mugged.
Thomas needs to be stronger on his skates and push back. PLD is not a tough guy.

Carolina brought in a luxury because they’re a defending champ and their lineup is set. He’ll play maybe 30 games and be in the press box unless there’s injury. Here you’re asking Johnston to dress regularly and play a key role here. We’re not a playoff team and lack talent to compete. It’s not an upgrade.
The “stronger on his skates” comment is a little weird based off of the actual play being discussed.
It is beyond a weird comment...it weakens credibility. I was at the game, saw it real time and of course multiple replays from many angles.

There are hundreds of "goons" at all levels of minor pro-hockey. Anyone whom "cannot skate" does not play in the NHL...period. Maybe they are not all like Paul Coffey, or Connor McDavid, or Nathan MacKinnon, or an Olympic figure skater, but they are all World Class skaters.

Everyone missing the point. PLD was kicked out of the game on a match and a major. Blues won 3-0 Caps had 21 shots in the game. Thomas came back to play in the game. How did we get pushed around if we won? That’s the end goal isn’t it?

In the Central division who is tougher than Ross Johnston? McCarron, O Brien? Johnston hurt McCarron last year and had to let the refs save him and O Brien was no match either. Ross the Boss will affect games for the Blues, solid signing for Steen

You are right, "Not a tough guy" body slams one of our skilled valuable players...perhaps the emboldening presence of Tom Wilson is a factor. The score at the time is not a factor. Everyone is "missing" your point, because it is makes no sense.

Forgot about O’Brien in an earlier post when I listed just how many teams carry a physical presence on their 4th line. That guy is one of the worst when it comes to lack of hockey skills. 4 points last year and only dressed for 30+ something games. It’d be different if we gave Johnston $3-4m per year, or he was blocking someone, but he’s not. The ones who will be fighting to keep their jobs are Toro, Walker, and Sunny. Other than Toro, they have no trade value and could easily be waived. One of them will lose a job to a younger player at some point this season. Maybe not opening night, but Stenberg will NOT spend the entire year in the AHL.

I love the idea of a guy with the physical presence of Ross. Im a little old school in this manner like was mentioned above Ross can skate which makes him a weapon. Hes Torop +25 lbs and meaner. Plus the comments i kept hearing in articles was "good teammate" "locker room" "keeps guys accountable" these are the key intangibles the Blues may have lacked after losing Schenn for example.
From what i can gather there are two or three spots available in camp

Holloway Thomas Snuggerud
Neighbours McT Buch
McMicheal Dvo xxxx
Johnston Suter xxxx

Torop (makes the team)
Berggren (makes the team is my guess)
Stenberg (50/50 for me but if he goes to the AHl when he comes back
he sticks for good)
Walker (may have his hands full)
Sunny (if hes healthy and can move he may make the opening night)
Dube (AHL is my guess)

Why is Torop a given? If you insist on having Johnston now, then Torop is redundant at best. I’d give the spots to Berggren and Stenberg. Waive Walker, put a suit on Sunny and let him coach. Waive Finley too.

Total guess on my part i think they like Torop, size, speed, good on the forecheck. He had some scoring ability or at least i thought he did 14 goals in '24 but only 8 goals since then. Hes on the bubble i think he makes the team though hes also more or less considered a RW

Common gardening practice, if you want your plant/tree to grow, you have to prune the dead branches.
