And as baseball will have it, I expect some regression next year. Just the nature of the sport.
Pitching in this game is the hardest thing to develop and keep. I think the team has no choice going into a lockout season than to keep him at this point and see what it all looks like on the backside of the lockout. If he has back to back sub 3.5 era's seasons on a full workload you have to offer him a deal at some point and if declined, you deal him then. He's a pitcher and with those numbers he will have almost just as much value in his FA season. The only way you deal him now is if the team is taking the approach of develop and trade and wait for that magical season you get it all to happen at one time. I find that a hard way to go because that tells every player your expendable at some point and destroys team chemistry. With them signing JJ for 8 years I do not see that approach. They just have to determine if Pallante is going to have the same mojo in 2028 when the team really starts to compete.

To your two points- yes if you deal him you might get a reasonable deal- 3-4 years from now if ever. In Pallante you have 2.5 more years. The goal was to build from within. He may be a product of that model. As soon as they arrive, you Cant just trade them.
And yes. I expect regress next season, not due to performance but do to the breaks of the game. Hes getting the breaks now. Won’t last.
No-No-No....he's NOT becoming the staff Ace....McG (3.07 ERA/15 quality starts) is the much better pitcher.
McG also has the best pin-point control I've seen on a pitcher in a long, long time!

You wouldn't be dealing Pallante for a prospect that far from MLB BDog.
He's got some solid value (3.77 ERA and that rubber arm I keep mentioning) so you'd get a major league ready now or in 2027 prospect, perhaps even a current major league player.
The rubber arm is rare. In fact there are few. I’d take a chance and keep it around. Still gonna need a 4-5 guy when the rebuild is complete.

Yesterday's strong outing that I saw w/my own eye's at the stadium calmed me down on the potential 2025, 2nd half meltdown.
He's different this season.
Last season and prior he was a "thrower"
But now he's become a "pitcher" using his accumulated knowledge and repertoire now to set-up hitters.
I know. Won’t happen. However it is still mathematically possible. 11 wins. 12 starts remaining.
Last night- 7 IP 0 runs 1 walk 8 K ? h. 11-6 record. 3 No Decisions.
It’s been a minute since we had a 20 gamer, even league level it’s rare. And of all the pitchers- Pallante- our number five.
Again a monumental deed. Heres the rub- he will need the pen to greatly assist this effort. The pen, is not our friend.
Thoughts on a break out season.
I will say that Pallante is having a good time right now. If he can keep up the strikeouts he could well be and ace type pitcher. That's been the biggest knock against him is that he's subject to a lot of batted ball luck. If they can't put it in play that mitigates damage from that.

You understand this game.
A surging starting pitcher; or a cost controlled internally developed pitcher. A goal we may be achieving, just to trade that asset away.
Heres an oddity with Pallante. He has only three no decisions in his 20 starts. Three?!
That’s huge for a team that has a pen affect in every game.
It seems to mean he either wins- 11, or loses- 6. Does that mean in the losses he gets blown out? No, because he has pitched 5 plus innings in 19/20 starts.

Just providing info I just saw on the BTV site ................. but tbh can't help from thinking, for ex., what if Herrera and Pallante plus a minor prospect could return Holliday? Really it's been the offense and the BP holding the team back lately. Having offensive deficits at C, 3B and CF inhibit the consistency of the offense. Trading Herrera increases the offensive deficit at the C position, but guess Bernal is the next C prospect to try, who hopefully produces both offensively while also improving the C defense.
