Re: kane back in Chicago
the time will never be right for the hawks. they are a rolling disaster of mismanagement and bad luck. It's going to take Bedard being healthy for 2 seasons before they can get serious. I have posted before, I feel bad for Bedard or any superstar player that keeps having setbacks. This applies to any league. I personally want it for the Hawks to get better. At the same time I want the Blues to be a good team as well. It stinks not having that rivalry going and I'm tired of hating the Avs.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑23 Jul 2026 09:29 amMoney isn't an issue for Wirtz especially after not spending anywhere close to the cap limit for the past four seasons. He's pot committed and I'm sure they'll be spending to the limit 3 years from now when the time is right.
that being said, this is a smart play for chicago and I'm surprised kane took it. Buffalo was the easy decision for him, Chicago he's basically going to be a mentor/coach for bedard. I can respect trying to get the team turned around before you retire.

What mismanagement has happened under Kyle Davidson? Trading a 4th overall is his worst move imo but it's time to take the next step and apparently Byram was his guy. If they would've drafted a defenseman then that doesn't help Chicago in 2026/2027/2028 imo. If the argument is that they didn't surround Bedard with high level talent then I would like to know what moves were available and I will argue that lucking into Bedard year 1.5 into a rebuild isn't a good enough reason to spend for the sake of it. This team is going to be better than last season and that's the goal....keep getting better until the window is open.

I mean they tried to go old man cast there and made some silly choices. You would have thought Seth Jones was the worst player in hockey according to Chicago fans. But in the double trade scenario, I guess it all plays out as a wash as Knight was a good recovery seemingly. Since 2022 the Hawks have finished at the bottom of the standings every year. They overpaid for Byram by at least 4m but probably more 6m. People think Parayko here is a bad deal at 6.5 but can rationalize an offensive only defensemen who Buffalo was trying to drop because of it. He is literally in the bottom of the league defensively.

I hear a lot of noise talking about the Blackhawks and it's going to be their ascension year the last couple years. This is the first time it's not happening because Bedard is hurt to start, and now we are back to it's long term rebuild mode. Well we been rebuilding for 10 years since the Blues took their souls in 2016. It's about time to do something wouldn't you say?
Outside of covid shutdown year, this team hasn't even been close. There are 16 year olds that don't remember what hockey is in Chicago and you are telling them to wait more?

So the owner will open the wallet in 3 years, which means that can be interpreted as when the window will open. But Bedard is only signed for 5 years.
That's a short window.

I wouldn't call that a window. That's more like the porthole on the boat at the lake. Got to have a tiny head to be able to see anything going by.

Honestly, I'm glad to see it.......if for no other reason than maybe he makes the Hawks suck a little less so they don't end up picking in the top 5 again.

Re: kane back in Chicago
Kane is worth 8M AAV for one team only.
I get it.....it's a cool reunion for him and fans but very skeptical it's some kind of great move for the team and now saying he's a guru for Bedard seems a big stretch to me to overpay for that.
As for the draft swap saying they dropped a potential future D star in Rudolph for experience now.....this is what year in the rebuild? Why hasn't this been addressed years before with all the low draft picks from heaven? This move goes directly to the poor job that's been happening prior.
The mistakes in Chicago have been very costly and rightly so fans should be sick of it. Bringing back Kane will make a lot of fans happy but it's fools gold until management can actually make picks that put a winning team together.
At this point, it won't even be an accomplishment when they finally manage to do it.

Maybe they can now spend a bunch of assets and cash on DeBrincat. Wouldn't that be fun.

Old man cast - Foligno was perfect - Hart was horrible here and great for Carolina - Perry was a horrible idea from the startcallitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑23 Jul 2026 15:22 pm I mean they tried to go old man cast there and made some silly choices. Coaching sucked terribly
Seth played terrible - a last ditch signing from Bowman….he gave KD a two team trade list and received Spencer Knight along with a 2027 first round pick
I’m never heard anybody on this board or anywhere else say that Parayko is on a bad contract…
Nobody talked about the Hawks rising quickly….just that they’re stacking prospects and that’s true - they have the most players on the Athletic’s last top 100 (10 total if I remember correctly)
Bedard is scheduled to miss approximately 12 games of an 84 game schedule - nobody is talking about another rebuild
The Blues beat Chicago (stole their souls brah) in 2016 after the Hawks played more hockey than anybody else in the league from 2013 to 2016 - 16 playoff wins in 2013, 11 playoff wins in 2014, 16 playoff wins in 2015.
Time to do something - KD did that by getting the top defenseman available instead of drafting and waiting

Glad to see it.
Not a fan of Kanes, not a fan of Chicago.
But a real fan of Players going back to the team that raised him to end a career.
2@8 is a little surprising. But if anyone would deserve a retirement send off. It's a player like Kane for what he did for that organization.
We do the same. But not for our talent that we raised and who put up big club numbers.
