Surprised me to learn this. 18 rbis in first 25 games. Playing solid defense. I hope the power comes soon.
Interesting and thanks for posting it.
Hopefully its a sign of better things to come.
I am agreeing with the posters here who say to let it play out.

It's a very strong stat for a rookie player.

Its a great indicator that the guy knows how to put the ball in play in key situations. Would be nice if others could fo that.

No doubt

It's his crazy splits!

Men on Base
.283 .350 .474 .824

Runner on 1st
.361 .400 .574 .974

Runner on 2nd
.229 .386 .486 .872

Runner on 3rd
.333 .333 .667 1.000

Bases Loaded
.500 .333 1.250 1.583
i know the bases loaded split is really small sample size, but it just reminded me of so taguchis absolutely random domination when the bases were loaded.

so taguchi
career .279/.332/.385/.717

so taguchi career with bases loaded- 21 for 41- .512/.510/.707/1.217 8 doubles,
Wow

Amazing how some really average hitters eye's light up when they see the sacks jammed.
i just remembered as a kid always seeing so taguchi dominate in that stat everytime ge came up wirh bases loaded.

whats even funnier is he kept the bases loaded split pretty consistent year to year.

2003 1 for 2
2004 3 for 7
2005 6 for 11
2006 7 for 14
2007 3 for 7
2008 1 for 1

now so taguchi also overall had a .331/.382/.443/.824 line with risp, and .301/ .351/.399/ .750 with runners on, but if you loom at all the other bases occupied spluts, they arent far off his career numbers and it was just his ridiculous .500+ avg with risp inflating those numbers.

he just liked the bases loaded.😂😂 the split was so ridiculous and the year to year so consistent, that a team should have kept so taguchi around on bench and tried using him as a bases loaded pinch hitting specialist.😂😂😂

i assume part of it since there was 0 homeruns is that so taguchi just swung for contact and wasnt swinging for the fences or trying to do too much, and since the bases were loaded the pitchers were having to throw him a strike in that situation and he just did his best to guide it to open field.

Blaze does it again with a critical two out double putting the Cards on top. I love his controlled swing as opposed to Gorman swinging so hard he screws up his mechanics. Blaze seems to be an intelligent hitter. That’s 20 RBIs in 31 games. Wonderful.

I agree he needs to play everyday for the rest of the season. Who wouldn't like his current rbi totals. But a 620 ops third baseman with average defense and poor range isn't what we need long term. He doesn't strikeout but doesn't walk either. Chases outside the zone. Needs better discipline in the strike zone. I'm sure they're working on it. Hopefully those #'s improve as the season winds down. Surprised he doesn’t have more homeruns.
Anyway, those raw power #'s have to improve.

I think he’s going to end up a RH version of Alec Burleson, hopefully without the RH/LH splits.

His numbers this season look kinda similar to Burleson’s first two years with the team, which is not great. And I was pretty down on Burleson his first three seasons. I’d say I was a Burleson hater. But he got better and he’s been pretty consistent offensively. Not great, but pretty good. I think Jordan could be pretty similar to that. Maybe not this season, he is a rookie after all. Maybe not even next season. It took Burleson a few years to get going.

The unfortunate thing is that he is not good defensively, also kind of like Burleson. You don’t want him starting long term at 3B, unless somehow Oquendo can lay hands on him and turn him into a decent defender there. There’s a bit of a log jam at 1B/DH with Burleson and Herrera there, although that could change soon.

I guess we gotta let this season play out to see what the future holds, but I’m thinking he’ll have a decent MLB career when it’s all said and done. And now I just jinxed him and he’ll end up how I thought Burleson was going to end up a few years ago.

Yes, I posted yesterday or the day before that Blaze and Burley were the B bookends. One L and one R. Similar players. Both slow on bases with little range, but can be adequate defensively. Adequate, not great. Both are really 1B/DH types, and with Ivan only catching part time there is trouble getting all of them in the lineup unless Blaze plays 3B. He can adequately, but certainly doesn't have the range to be an elite defender there. Honestly he has done better than I expected at third defensively. I think the kid can hit and he just needs to play the rest of the year. They have some options way down in the system, but no one in AAA who is going to step up even next season. So hopefully Blaze can be half decent defensively at third because he is kind of it right now. Fermin is not the answer to third base. Nor Saggese, and Urias didn't impress me at all. I think Blaze has some power. He is adjusting and just trying to put the ball in play right now, which is probably best for him in his rookie season. Just pencil the kid in at third and bat him 5-7 in the order somewhere and leave him alone. Let's see what the kid can do (without getting yanked to put Fermin at third all the time). My 2 cents.

Maybe you swap them in the lineup depending on the starter. Burly bats 3rd vs RHP and 8th vs LHP. Jordan 8th vs RHP and 3rd vs LHP. Jordan's SLG% vs LHP in a SSS is .441 with a .265 avg (unfortunately a .265 OBP, too), so it's not exactly completely unjustified.

The other thing about Jordan is that I know that Busch is particularly hard on RHB's for power. On the road so far in his MLB career, Jordan is hitting .315 with a .784 OPS (.463 SLG%). That's not bad. He's hitting .159 with a .434 OPS at Busch though.

Unfortunately, most, like Gorman try to go yank the ball for a Slam. What I've seen from Blaze so far is trying to make contact like he did last night with his two rbi double to give us the lead. Smart hitting. Not many of those around these days.

I’m still intrigued by BJ.

His walk rate is a bummer, but maybe he can channel Allen Craig

Hitters should only take walks when there is nothing to hit. We have too many hitters taking too many grooved strikes early in the count. They are up there to hit. If you get no good pitch to hit, then take the walk. A pitcher should never feel comfortable grooving a fastball. Ted Williams said that a hitter is lucky to get one pitch to hit per at bat. If he lets it go, he has dramatically reduced his effectiveness as a hitter.
