I agree with Pierre, and don't think it will take a 90 point season for his camp to make that ask. The market will be set and he will be able to point to Carlson, Kaprizov, most likely Gauthier and possibly even Sennecke depending upon when he signs. Need o be prepared for Offer Sheets on our players as well if they aren't locked up before 7/1/27. Gonna get very expensive in the next year and the Blues will start having some lop-sided salaries between established players salaries (Thomas, Broberg, etc) and the more recently contracted players (Snug, Hofer, ??). It's going to be pretty wild through all this evolution of salaries.UMR-alum-05 wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026 12:18 pmHe would have to put up 90 this year for that.
Come on man.
I'm not saying that isn't possible. But to just say that like it's fact is not quite realistic.
Ducks match the offer sheet. Carlsson stays.

Like come on here guys. You all are jumping to some crazy conclusions based on one offer sheet. Salaries are going to go up, sure. But not every RFA with a scintilla of talent is going to immediately make 15MM.

Snuggerud is going to get paid for sure however he will not be offer sheet eligible and even if he was he likely is not a great offer sheet candidate. The Blues will have the leverage in this case and will likely offer him a fair but not outrageous long term contract that will be very hard for him to turn down IMO.

Sure the possibility is there for a larger pay day, but what if it isn't there? What if his wrist snaps again? Has a sophomore slump?
If the blues go to him with a good respectable offer for a good length such as say 80/8 that's 80 freaking million dollars. Would you say no and take your chances that a team might throw an insane offer at you and that some 4th line goon doesn't elbow smash your face into the glass and you miss 40 games from a concussion?
Way too many variables out of their control when the one variable they can control, guaranteed money and a lot of it, is right there.

His agent can point to players like Kaprizov and then the Blues can point out his production being about 60-70% of those players. If he puts up 60 points this season, I expect a 5-7 year contract in the $10-11m range.

We shall see. Snug stayed in college an extra year to win a championship, get paid more in NIL than in the AHL and avoided playing in the AHL completely. He then joined the Blues in time to play 7 regular season games and 7 playoff games AND burn a full year of ELC for that short season. That gets him a year closer to UFA for 14 games. I would submit he and his agent have been positioning for the fastest route to big money and after the insanity that’s gone on over the past week or so his timing is perfect. Assuming a strong season from him I anticipate a giant ask from his campUMR-alum-05 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 08:47 amSnuggurud is not Kaprizov lol.Phil Roberto fan wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 08:40 amI agree with Pierre, and don't think it will take a 90 point season for his camp to make that ask. The contract you’re describing makes him the highest paid blue. That was the original point.

His fastest route to big money includes a little less annually to get his max total guaranteed dollars as soon as possible.Phil Roberto fan wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 10:30 amWe shall see. The things you mentioned will get him to his first new contract earlier but also give him less leverage when he signs that contract. He'll likely have to gamble on a bridge deal now to potentially cash on his full earning potential on the next contract

Good point - didn’t realize he wasn’t an rfa til end of 27-28. He is a RFA after 26/27 but wouldn't be eligible for an offer sheet until 2028Phil Roberto fan wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 12:31 pmGood point - didn’t realize he wasn’t an rfa til end of 27-28. Who knows what he is thinking but the Blues likely offer him a huge contract after 26/27 when he doesn't have much leverage.
Upside is the Blues get him cheaper and he gets his guaranteed money earlier.

This started as a thread about the Ducks and Carlsson and quickly turned into the Blues/Snuggerud.
Back on topic. Timing is everything. Suppose the Ducks had yet to trade McTavish to the Blues. I'll bet they let Carlsson go, put the 4 picks in their pocket, and go big game hunting with the extra $11 mil in cap space and 4 extra picks. And still have McTavish at C.

No chance. Q healthy scratched McTavish in the playoffs this year and Leo is their franchise center. The 2 players aren’t comparable.leedog68 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 14:51 pm This started as a thread about the Ducks and Carlsson and quickly turned into the Blues/Snuggerud.

Yes I’m aware, but I don’t see how that’s relevant. Considering the ducks just traded McTavish for 2 firsts and matched an 18 million dollar offer sheet for Carlsson I’d say they don’t view the 2 players as very comparable. And they’re probably correct. I don’t think McTavish sucks or anything but he’s not really viewed in the same tier around the league.UMR-alum-05 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 16:09 pmHe scratched him 2 of 12 games and in the 10 games he played, he scored 6 points. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 16:08 pmNo chance.
