I absolutely agree with this.
If the Kraken trade Wright, they will regret it later.

The Blues' best trade chips for a young player like Wright at this point are Stenberg, Neighbours, and next year's 1st. Not saying all three. Just saying these are the best available trade chips.

I can't see them trading Neighbours with their stated goal of being harder to play against. I could see them trading Stenberg potentially.

They're going to have to do something to get a right shot player in here.
I was thinking if we are committed to JN (I think we should) and we are going to sign MM long term(not sure on that) then we don't really have a spot for Stenberg or Suter IMO. I wonder if they would be interested in MM?

Holloway/Thomas/Snugg
JN/Mac/Buch
Stenberg/Dvo/Wright
Who are you referring to as MM. McTavish?

Hell no

I will from here on refer to McMichael as MM and McTavish as Mac

I have a feeling "MM" is wanting a bigger contract than I would like.
Yeah I'm keeping McMichael and trading Stenberg for Wright if I'm making a move for Wright.
Kind of depends on the contract right?
They aren't going to make McMichael the highest paid player on the team. I guess if that's what he wants they will trade him.

Otherwise I'm signing him.

Idk, fits the profile but might rather just keep McMichael. Don't know enough about any of these players.
Kotkaniemi is pretty much a negative asset at this point. CAR cant find a taker for him without stapling him to Nikishin - there's no way we could turn around and flip him and Suter for Wright. If Kotkaniemi could be moved for Wright, CAR would probably just do that in thr first place.

I mean, with how in demand natural centers are, there must be something very wrong with him for CAR to need to force him onto a Nikishin suitor judt to be rid of him...
Could it be that reports of that are just not true? (I don't know who reported it)
Maybe, but its been reported in several places. And, he was benched for the playoffs. No way the Blues are taking him if they dont have to, and less chance they immediately flip him for something of value.
I believe Carolina stated it outright, which I thought a bit strange.

Yeah I get that he's a negative asset and all that. The way I wrote that was short form for Suter+ which could include Kotkaniemi for salary purposes. I'm also not saying Suter is the guy Seattle wants. Could we do Buch for Wright? Not sure that's even a good idea.

I start not liking the risk well before he is the highest paid player on the team.

If they could get Wright for Stenberg I think that would be a pretty legit move. Maybe the Blues have to add a little something to that like a Burns or a Tucker. Seattle would be able to plug Stenberg right into their lineup by simply playing Catton at C where Wright was and put Stenberg there at LW.

Holloway Thomas Snuggerud
McMichael McTavish Buch
Neighbours Dvorsky Wright
Johnston Suter Berggren

Finley Torpchenko

Thats a deep lineup and they also buy themselves development time for Carbs to where they don't have to force him into the lineup anytime soon. He would have to force Buch either down the lineup or out of the lineup when he's actually ready.

Well I like it for sure, I'll have to see what MM gets to tell you if I love it.

As Ive mentioned before I don't like paying that much for a good but not great LW. I think that is a spot where you can bring in young players and save money for other positions(easiest position to fill in many ways)

He just may not be suited for C at the NHL level. Moving him to wing may unlock his scoring potential.
Dags, Kos and a 2nd. Gitrdun!
Do we have to have this Dags thing on every post? Is was funny once fifteen years ago.

Something that McTavish is NOT. Let's trade McTavish for him.

Nope. McTavish is feisty and Wright is another softie, highlighted by a miserable 39.7% on the dot.

You're right about his defensive prowess and I'm not against the acquisition, but not at the expense of McTavish.

I drew it up this morning. Fax it to Steener for me.

Stenberg and Suter for Wright.

Lindstein and a 2027 3rd next year for Nikishin and Kotkaniemi.

Have to include Suter in that Wright deal to clear enough cap to take on Kotkaniemi.

Holloway Thomas Snuggerud
McMichael McTavish Buch
Neighbours Dvorsky Wright
Johnston Kotkaniemi Torpchenko

Berggren, Finley

Broberg Mailloux
Nikishin Parayko
Fowler Carlo
Tucker

Hofer
Binnington

That fits within the cap. Barely.

It’s honestly a good looking lineup. I do like Stenberg, but everyone seems to be throwing him in every trade the second his brother went #2 Overall to the Sharks.

The organization is deep at LHF & LHD and should injuries unfold, they could dig into those recesses to bring up a Dube, a Kaskimaki, maybe a Pekarcik or an Arseni Koromyslov?

I like that lineup a lot. That fourth line could look different some nights. Could play it Kotkaniemi-Finley-Berggren to try and get a little more offense out of it if Johnston wasn't needed against a certain opponent.

Stenberg will be a nice player and I don't want to move him but he's one of the most viable trade chips we have to get something we need. Fact is we need Wright a lot more than we need Stenberg right now and you've got to give to get.

As you note, any of Dube, Kaskimaki, possibly even Dean can come up and give us some minutes. Pekarcik as well. They have LW depth. Plenty of it.
