Exactly. Not a smart move for a team that is really trying to pull all the right strings and make as many smart decisions as possible. Not that its not always the goal. We are trying to be smart with our contracts with the future in mind.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑02 Jul 2026 14:56 pmIt would also invite potential retaliation as the Hawks would be primed to be able to do it. Match our Bedard offer but then go and offer sheet McMichael or Snuggy a year from now.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑02 Jul 2026 14:36 pmNo. Chicago has plenty of cap space it would just be a waste of time unless Bedard is actually unhappy.pucknugget wrote: ↑02 Jul 2026 14:31 pm Bedard is currently a RFA.
An offer sheet over $11.939 million would require 4 1sts in return if not matched.
Just starting a discussion whether this would be something STL would be thinking about. I see a few reasons why this would be a nice fit right now with STL, and ultimately it forces Chicago into making a long-term decision one way or the other in the next 7 days. Would they possible every consider not matching?
If the Blues were in on Robertson at $15, what offer would Bedard command to make Chicago pause?
Just not a good idea.

Hockey is hard enough without self inflicting an injury in the off season.
Likely a collar bone or shoulder separation.
Not good.

Why do you do this to yourself? You're not stupid, it's pretty easy to look this up in many different ways.
From TSN
"According to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun Times, Don Meehan, Bedard’s agent, said more would be known about Bedard’s status in the coming days."
So you're actually claiming this is a hoax? "Fake News" if you would?

Video of Bedard injuring himself.
Any guess as to the injury judging his body language?

You’re the one…you’re the one person here that doesn’t understand sarcasm. C’mon man - do you really think that this is the first time I saw the video and thought it was fake? This is tardy level stuff…
If not then you caught me…I’m the slow guy here. Pat yourself on the back for me

Well he was wanting 17 million, but if he has two bum shoulders, that's going to be hard to justify.

Edit to add: duh, he signed for 5x15M. Fair for both, IMO.
I think Fantilli is the more opportune target. They dont have enough cap for Greaves, Sillinger, and Fantilli - and, at least according to Eklund (lol), his price has gone way up since the Carlsson offersheet. If someone signed Fantilli at 15M, something would have to shake loose in CBJ.
Bedard, regardless of his health, isnt someone CHI will let go. And they'd have less cap gymnastics to fit an offersheet match IMO.

He’s saying that’s what Bedard just re-signed for. The Hawks announced it a bit ago.Army's Mom wrote: ↑18 Jul 2026 15:41 pm

Bedard will now be a UFA in 5 years. I guess if CHI isn’t a cup contender by then he will look to go to a contender.

I just realized I posted it in a thread about offer sheets - sorry for the confusion…didn’t want to start a new thread.

Re: Connor Bedard
He didn't match up with Carlsson nor should he but fair to say Bedard should thank the Flyers for helping him out.
Bedard is still so young he can rest easy with this contract and try to shake off the injury bug on the Blackhawks nickel.
Good move.
