I love it. Great move by Philly. Id guess the ducks were low balling Leo for him to sign it. As
This was the whole point of offer sheets.
This should also make gms think twice about giving third line talent bigger contracts then they should be getting Like Neighbours in our case.
Hopefully Offer Sheets become a weekly thing in the Summers to come.
Also Connor Bernard isn't Leo Carlson.

He might be sitting on an offer right now but pretty much everybody is expecting him to get 15-17 million per

and not only could they have gotten him for 8yrs, most likely much less per yrPierre McGuire wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:58 pmYep..they will match but they let another team dictate the pricemoose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:56 pmwho really screwed up is ANA.. they could have signed him for 8yrsdhsux wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:53 pmYa I get that but there's the other side. 18 friggen mil I bet Philly could have gotten more years if they really pushed it.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:51 pmBecause Leo sees a much bigger contract when he’s only 26.dhsux wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:47 pmIf you are going all in as they are why only 5 years? The cost to acquire could have been much less and if they were hedging it makes even less sense.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:39 pmThe cost to acquire is very doable for the Flyers . They are loaded with quality prospects. They are taking the next step.
This is a great deal for Carlson I don't know about the other party's.

Not sure the “it” you’re referring to but no, Anaheim hasn’t responded yet. They have a full week to make their decision if they want to.

That's his contract now. We just have to find out who will be paying it.

That’s what he’s got now - that’s his contract, just TBD if it’s with the Flyers or Ducks, who haven’t matched yet but I believe they have a week to decide.

I would. Make Philly sweat and basically unable to make other moves as they don’t know if they truly have that $18M/year committed or not.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 15:05 pmand I'm sure they'll take the whole week to do soSTL fan in MN wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 15:03 pmNot sure the “it” you’re referring to but no, Anaheim hasn’t responded yet. You mean McTavish or you mean the offer sheets for Broberg and Holloway two years ago?dhsux wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:37 pmMakes you appreciate what DA pulled off even more, if possible.DyadicEffect wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:29 pm I wonder with the cap going up and moves like this if we are going to see GMs be a little more cut throat with their RFA offers?

Pat Verbeek, GM of the year.
Playing hardball with all that young talent. Shipping out the players and coaches that helped to turn the ship around.
What comes around goes around. Gross team mismanagement.
Zegras is smiling somewhere.

This is insane, the NHL does not have the revenue MLB or NFL has.
Fans will be priced out.

Might be over reacting but it looks to me like DA kicked the door down with the Edmonton OS's.
I can see this as a runaway train, out pacing UFA deals, if the players play it right.
