Holy [shirt].
Verbeek said he would match any offer sheet given to Carlsson. But…18 per? Wow. Wonder if he saw someone taking THAT big a swing.

if not, 4 first rounders in next 5 years would go to them from flyers.
18mil x5 is a lot of cash, and will end up putting you into a edmonton spot, where you hsve 2 lines and cannot afford a goalie or depth.
and mike greer is an idiot for some of his moves for grossly overated, 30+ year old dmen

I wonder with the cap going up and moves like this if we are going to see GMs be a little more cut throat with their RFA offers?

Re: Leo Carlsson Offer Sheet
Wowzers!
This will make Carlsson the highest paid player in the league.
Anaheim has $35 million in cap space so I bet they match, especially since they said they purposely didn’t sign any big UFAs so they could make sure they could afford not Carlsson and Gauthier but (bleep), Philly’s not messing around.
What’s Gauthier going to ask for now?! Ducks are lucky Gauthier isn’t offer sheet eligible.

Re: Leo Carlsson Offer Sheet
The crummy part for ANH is that they’re on the cusp of taking that next big step. While the 18 is brutal and the 4 1st rounders are nice, how do you explain this to your fanbase (IF they weren’t to match)?AtillaTheBlue1 wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:27 pm if not, 4 first rounders in next 5 years would go to them from flyers.

Re: Leo Carlsson Offer Sheet
Given the Hayton and Carlsson offer sheets I think we already have an answer to that - yes!DyadicEffect wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:29 pm I wonder with the cap going up and moves like this if we are going to see GMs be a little more cut throat with their RFA offers?

Re: Leo Carlsson Offer Sheet
I guess all you cap experts will tell me this is the new normal?
I know he's a ppg center but sure seems nuts to me.
The player, the AAV, the term and the cost to acquire.

Good thing the Ducks freed up $7 mil for the center position.

He very purposely took less to give Edmonton money to spend on players around him (which Edmonton then wasted of course). Maybe he goes for top dollar next time around though.Backesdraft wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:33 pmHahaha. What about McDavid? With his friendly 12 mil per???

Ha I know. But he will still get something crazy. Definitely possible this delays it a year so he can show he's healthy, idk.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:34 pmBedard be in a sling right now probably hoping he had signed something a couple days ago…

Makes you appreciate what DA pulled off even more, if possible.DyadicEffect wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026 14:29 pm I wonder with the cap going up and moves like this if we are going to see GMs be a little more cut throat with their RFA offers?
