Fantastic signing! The Blues badly needed toughness. The 4th line will be beefy, tough, and can skate. What is NOT to like about this signing? Love it!

Well, right now "more" is ONE. We went from a top-6 minute guy whose hockey skills degraded into deep minus territory and who was a mediocre enforcer at best to a guy who will see limited minutes but can bring some serious knuckle and muscle. That's prudent roster management, not to mention the haul for Schenn was an absolute steal.son_of_foolsgold wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 16:00 pm A lot of posters have a fetish for zero-skill goons and are happy the more of them the Blues collect....
Don't get me wrong, I have been a HUGE Schenn fan, but as a top-9 forward he was done.

Put me on the list of people who miss the days of Maroon (which were sadly short lived) stalking the other teams bench saying "you go after our top guys and I'm going after yours and if you don't like it meet me on the ice and ill beat your (donkey)."
Hopefully Johnston brings just that dynamic back.
Then we won't have Pierre LD on the caps body slamming Thomas to the ice and our guys watching it happen

Congrats. Your best player is Robert Thomas. Big deal. The 2023 draft has yielded 2 bottom 6 forwards and a 3rd pairing D with 3 first round picks. Again big deal. Have fun with continued mediocrity.

Lol right no doubt Kyrou scores a bunch of goals you can book it. Blues are trying to grow a new core they don't want to sign long term vet deals. Signing a tough 4 th liner to add some pop isn't a big dealBackesdraft wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 17:58 pmHave fun watching another 17-goal campaign by the one and only Jordan Kyrou.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 17:26 pmTwo different guys… gonna follow my other team the Caps. They got too many young kids coming up. They need to have someone looking out for them. I'm glad they signed Johnston. This team should be competitive enough to be in the mix and hopefully Monty's coaching can get them over that hump.

Well, I wish it was a shift disturber on the right side of 30, but if he’s able to still instill some fear into the opposition, then no complaints here

"why did Blues management think they should sign Ross Johnston?"
Exhibit A: https://youtu.be/RnD2lN2rcJY?si=80QeiasX75sLBOXh&t=12
Looks like he fights some of the biggest and baddest https://www.hockeyfights.com/players/16697
This was definitely a need. Bring in a bear to make us harder to play against and fill a key role.

He big, not particularly fast, but is a high motor guy. He played in 62 games, but lead the ducks with 192 hits. Hes respected for his lockeroom presence and leadership skills. A good signing for a young team.

I'm guessing Steen had his Cliff Fletcher Jeff Finger moment; and he meant to sign Jeffery Viel.

Re: Blues sign Ross Johnston
My opinion is this was a very good signing. The Blues have needed some muscle for quite a long time. Our talen needs some protection!! Never understood why Army was against a solid 4th liner that can keep the other team honest.
