But, but, but....... but.... Melville's never wrong. I'm so confused.JDW wrote: ↑27 Jun 2026 14:23 pm With Noot 10-8 Win % .556

Not that the above means much because of the SSS involved, and one has to be rather dense to use such an argument. Too many factors in addition to SS involved, especially in baseball where 15 or more players may play in a single game. Agenda bias appears to be the motive. Rather similar to those that want the the Cards to regress so they can think they're the brighter bulbs.
Arrogance and ignorance are close cousins, then throw in egos and well, welcome to CT. Luckily CT also has some very good posters that make the site worthwhile/informative for some of us fans. There's always a balance.
Anyway, do wonder what the Cards record would have been w/o Noot in those 18 games, but not hard to think it'd have been worse than 10-8, but we'll never know so it's kind of pointless.
Great to have Noot back. Only trade him if the return is VERY good. He's a good all around player, so please don't sell short on him. jmo

I alone rightly said they would be worse.
They are 10-9 since his return.
Obviously, so far, I have been correct.
And the pitching has given up 5 runs per game over that stretch, compared to 4.6 prior to his return.
That includes the weird 14 run outlier against the Royals - and other than that one oddball game the pitching staff has surrender 4.5 is all other games since his return.
Bottom line: factually, the staff has NOT been worse since his return despite the reality that the defense unquestionably suffered with him in the outfield.
And the overall results have been worse since he was released from the assisted living facility.
Some players have that impact on a team.
He is one.
Always has been.
Not blaming anyone.
Simply stating outcomes with complete accuracy.
The staff has been objectively worse. Noot has an OPS of .876. There is no rational way to suggest the cardinals are worse off with Noot
STL 31-26 when June began.
STL 11-11 in June.
Everyone in this thread claimed his return would make the team better.
I alone correctly understood that it would make the team worse.
Which, so far, has proven to be true.
Right now, the team is playing its slopiest, laziest, most fundamentally unsound ball of the entire season.
There are, correctly so, many thread acknowledging that truth.
Weird - and very revealing - that the same folks making that case in those threads are denying it in this one.
I knew it would happen and I knew why it would happen.
Bloom and The Marmot made radical, substantive changes both defensively and offensively to get Moot into the lineup with the sole goal of hoping to re-establish some semblance of trade value.
This supplanted the previous goal - which was all about winning games.
We have seen this many, many times before.
When the priorities become something other than simply winning games, inevitably fewer games are won.
True of all teams at all times.
Nootbaar's fault?
Personally?
Not directly.
Is his presence a very large portion of it?
Undeniably.
Let's see what happens.

It bottomed out at 96.44%
My thread warning about the risks of intentionally weakening the defense, and this thread about how Mootbaar's return would impede the progress and momentum the team had created, have bumped it back to a 96.55% accuracy rate.
My personal standard is 96.75%, so there is room for another increase.
Let's see what happens.

Mel is still melting down about how wrong he was about the unicorn so now he is hammering at noot who actually can hit and contribute. He’s become so nuts he thinks relievers and starters throw meatballs just because noot is back lol he’s become completely deranged since the loss of the unicorn

Re: Nootbaar is not the answer to this team and I don’t understand Bernie
You’re right. Facts matter. The pitching staff getting worse as a whole which I clearly demonstrated is the reason they’re losing. Drawing a conclusion that a guy with an .874 OPS is the reason is nonsensical. Only a guy with an agenda would try to spin it in such a way. Your agenda is that you’ve never liked nootbaar. Your spin is equivalent to mainstream media newsMelville wrote: ↑27 Jun 2026 17:07 pmFacts say otherwise.woofy25 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2026 13:28 pmLiberatore has 10+ era in June.
