The pitching has been brutal and you’re blaming nootbaar. Wild take with no merit.
Nootbaar is not the answer to this team and I don’t understand Bernie

Everyone here said Moot would make the team better.
I alone rightly said they would be worse.
They are 10-9 since his return.
Obviously, so far, I have been correct.
And the pitching has given up 5 runs per game over that stretch, compared to 4.6 prior to his return.
That includes the weird 14 run outlier against the Royals - and other than that one oddball game the pitching staff has surrender 4.5 is all other games since his return.
Bottom line: factually, the staff has NOT been worse since his return despite the reality that the defense unquestionably suffered with him in the outfield.
And the overall results have been worse since he was released from the assisted living facility.
Some players have that impact on a team.
He is one.
Always has been.
Not blaming anyone.
Simply stating outcomes with complete accuracy.

An impressively dumb take on your part. As if Soriano came in last night and oh noots in left field I need to pitch like (bleep) lolMelville wrote: ↑27 Jun 2026 12:22 pmEveryone here said Moot would make the team better.

The team has played worse since his return.
Precisely as I predicted, of course.
Not blame.
Facts.
The only "blame" being placed is on your part - and pointing to Soriano is particularly silly.

Your attempt to imply a direct cause and effect between Nootbaars return and the cardinals win loss record is embarrassingly weak and just emphasizes your lack of understanding of the game of baseball.

Melvin makes up a false premise then argues it like a 10-year-old. Liberatore has 10+ era in June. Leahy is in the high 4s in June compared to a sub 3.00 in May. Mcgreevy has been half a run worse in June compared to May. Jojo has a June era over 7.00 after an under 1.00 in may. Stanek has a 4.00+ in June after a 2.00 in May. Soriano June over 4.00 compared a sub 2.00 in May.Melville wrote: ↑27 Jun 2026 12:22 pmEveryone here said Moot would make the team better.

The staff has been objectively worse. Noot has an OPS of .876. There is no rational way to suggest the cardinals are worse off with Noot

.290 .392 .484 .876
149 OPS+
Noot last 9 GP

.367 .459 .500 .959
Cards record in Games Noot played:
10 - 8
Including winning their first five games in a row upon his positive return.
4 of those 8 loses were blown late inning saves from the pen' or that record when Noot starts would've been 14 - 4

You’re missing the point. Noot being around obviously caused the bullpen to suck. Chemistry and stuff.rockondlouie wrote: ↑27 Jun 2026 13:31 pmscoutyjones2 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2026 12:20 pm (drat) 149 OPS+

Gotta love old Melvin
But hard for him to argue the FACTS posted above that seems counter to his claim.

Nootbaar is providing exactly what Bloom should have hoped for. Good play and no sign of lingering issues from heel surgery. Trade him, Chaim. Don't be suckered by fool's gold.

With Noot 10-8 Win % .556
W/o Noot 32-29 Win % .525
Overall 42-37 Win % .532
Not that the above means much because of the SSS involved, and one has to be rather dense to use such an argument. Too many factors in addition to SS involved, especially in baseball where 15 or more players may play in a single game. Agenda bias appears to be the motive. Rather similar to those that want the the Cards to regress so they can think they're the brighter bulbs.
Arrogance and ignorance are close cousins, then throw in egos and well, welcome to CT. Luckily CT also has some very good posters that make the site worthwhile/informative for some of us fans. There's always a balance.
Anyway, do wonder what the Cards record would have been w/o Noot in those 18 games, but not hard to think it'd have been worse than 10-8, but we'll never know so it's kind of pointless.
Great to have Noot back. Only trade him if the return is VERY good. He's a good all around player, so please don't sell short on him. jmo

Some good points, but Nootbaar needs to be traded no later than this coming offseason.JDW wrote: ↑27 Jun 2026 14:23 pm With Noot 10-8 Win % .556

He has 1 more year of control, they will not extend him, trade him.
He is not part of the future here.
