Re: Liberatore
Or maybe be creative and introduce an opener 1-2 innings letting him start against 7-8 getting him an extra inning only having to face 1-6 twice.southernblues wrote: ↑19 May 2026 20:18 pm Blew up in 6th inning the start before this and now in the fifth inning. We need to try someone else!!!!

Re: Liberatore
If your sole objective is winning as many games as possible that's a perfectly fine idea. If your goal is to balance winning along with developing and/or evaluating talent to determine who to keep going forward then letting Liberatore try and work through this makes a lot of sense. Same thing with letting Burleson and Gorman face LH pitching.Alex Reyes Cy Young wrote: ↑19 May 2026 20:20 pmOr maybe be creative and introduce an opener 1-2 innings letting him start against 7-8 getting him an extra inning only having to face 1-6 twice.southernblues wrote: ↑19 May 2026 20:18 pm Blew up in 6th inning the start before this and now in the fifth inning. Common sense statement. Refreshing and absolutely correct.rbirules wrote: ↑19 May 2026 20:33 pmIf your sole objective is winning as many games as possible that's a perfectly fine idea. Re: Liberatore
My guess is the staff will fall apart after the all star break like they did last season.

Too soon to give up on Libby. He has the talent. We can rebuild him.
Patience.

Re: Liberatore
Agree 100%. Liberatore has nasty stuff. He rolls along fine than boom there's men on base in the middle innings and he can't make an out pitch to save his life. They need to solve the puzzle. I think Yogi had it right. It's 90% mental. The other half is physical.rbirules wrote: ↑19 May 2026 20:33 pmIf your sole objective is winning as many games as possible that's a perfectly fine idea. Re: Liberatore
He’ll work through it. I’m not worried. He just won’t be on the Allstar Roster this year

Re: Liberatore
Does Winn get to some of those balls Prieto didn't?
Yes, Libby can be frustrating, but maybe with Winn in there it looks a lot different last night.

Re: Liberatore
Leave Liberatore alone and let him work through this next phase of development. He went from low command not missing any bats, to relief and starting to sharpen command and miss some bats, to starter again and developing endurance, hopefully makes the jump to ace in the next year. If not he is a cost controlled backend with potential to throw a gem.
Best case we see him flourish and become the next (lefty) AW.
Will need a TOR starter next year regardless. Was great to see the strikeouts yesterday and that curve was wicked.

If we were discussing McGreevy or JJ, you would have a point. But I think all three players mentioned are in their fifth season.rbirules wrote: ↑19 May 2026 20:33 pmIf your sole objective is winning as many games as possible that's a perfectly fine idea. I’m not really into giving Libby an opener, but I’m fine with coming to terms that Burly isn’t great vs LHP, and managing the roster accordingly…

Re: Liberatore
The first 4 innings showed you what he's capable of. The 5th showed what he's still gotta figure out. You'd be idiotic to pull him at this point. See if he can figure it out.
