While some may lament them not being here I love seeing these former Cardinals do so well, why?
Because POBO's/GM's all over MLB are seeing this too and know they're going to get some value dealing w/the Cardinals which could make future trade returns even better.
WIN-WIN trades are the best.
Allows you to keep going back to that team and dealing again!

This is the kind of post we get when we don't have a losing Cardinal team to kick around. Rehashing the Liberatore trade for the gazillionith time is another.

It is a fair question, since that is EXACTLY what N/A did in Colorado.
He signed a massive contract and then flat turned against his own teammates. - truly despicable behavior.
That's not what happened in STL.
Super Slo Mo expected N/A to be someone he was not and never will be.
N/A never wanted to be a leader and predictably failed spectacularly when asked to become one.
Leaving STL under a cloud was inevitable - but N/A did not create that situation.
Super Slo Mo and The Marmot did.
It ended with N/A simply playing for his paycheck, which was a sad and pathetic outcome.
I hope his teammates in AZ do the heavy lifting and carry him into the playoffs - which is all he wants at this point.
Every fading vet on the downside of his career wants one last chance to play in October - and I don't begrudge him that one bit.
After all, the Cardinals instantly got better the day he left - just as I said they would.

Arenado's wish: To win a WS before he retires.
If your theory is correct, NA's dogging it was self-sabotage, since it reduced the number of teams interested in trading for him.
Which makes your OP unbelievably dumb...

Re: Arenado
There’s no question that Arenado’s last two seasons here saw significant drop off.
But I don’t think(and I have zero inside info) he intentionally underperformed.
Actually the opposite:
Declining skills due to age?
Injury?(shoulder)
Failure to adapt his game and change??
Again....just guessing but I don’t see him tanking.
Moody & stubborn??
Yes

I think being a yr older this year voids the age excuse. He a temperamental headcase and whether subconsciously or not his baserunning and fielding exhibited that his head was elsewhere for large chucks of time. Thats not a leader or Pro.Cusecards wrote: ↑19 May 2026 09:13 am There’s no question that Arenado’s last two seasons here saw significant drop off.

Gray and WC would look (bleep) good in a Cards uni this season. The glaring holes wouldn’t be there and a few more wins would be in the column. Gray drops Leahy or Pallante to supplement a weak pen. Burly patrols left and the only hole remaining would be catcher.rockondlouie wrote: ↑19 May 2026 08:47 am NADO

Vince Carter (NBA): During the 2004-2005 season, Carter grew frustrated with the Toronto Raptors. His production plummeted, and he openly admitted to giving less than 100% and tipping off opposing players about the Raptors' plays before ultimately being traded to the New Jersey Nets.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑19 May 2026 08:58 amName at least 4Goldfan wrote: ↑19 May 2026 07:44 amPlayers across all major sports have had a history of dialing it back to force an outcome. But to suggest throwing away two years in the twilight of a career is ridiculous.
Albert Haynesworth (NFL): After signing a massive contract with the Washington Redskins in 2009, Haynesworth publicly clashed with the coaching staff over defensive schemes. His effort noticeably flatlined, he failed conditioning tests, and he was eventually benched and traded.
Ben Simmons (NBA): Following a poor postseason in 2021, Simmons grew disgruntled with the Philadelphia 76ers. He refused to play, cited mental health concerns, and held out of training camp to force a deal, eventually resulting in a trade to the Brooklyn Nets

Good assessment. BDW and Mo saw in Nado who they wanted to see, not who he really was and is. STL was not a great landing spot for him. Goldie covered him well enough for a while to keep him happy and productive. Nado is just so self-centered, he can't be bothered with things like leadership and mentoring. He was pretty lost the last two years in STL.Melville wrote: ↑19 May 2026 08:59 amThe OP is saying N/A intentionally forced his way out of STL.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑19 May 2026 08:48 amAgree, but that's not what the OP is saying.Melville wrote: ↑19 May 2026 08:45 amIntentionally marginalize his own stats?Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑19 May 2026 08:39 amHe's a probable Hall of Famer, but not a slam dunk.
