How about Alcantara and Zac heading out staff for a couple of years.....

Re: Liberatore for Arozarena
Yes they do. They both were traded away and then did well on their next team.
Our outfield in 2022 posted the 5th highest fWar (10.5) out of 30 clubs. So no the outfield was not bleep. We had the 4th highest position player War (31.7) and our team wRC+ was 112 which was 7th best out of 30.
Our pitching on the other hand was 16th in team War. Sandy Alcantara was the NL Cy Young award winner in 2022.

What is relevant about Seattle needing to proffer a QO or wave good bye bye to Arozarena.... and the Cardinals having contract control thru 2029 of Libby.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑18 May 2026 14:05 pmIt's relevant since both are still active.Adam2 wrote: ↑18 May 2026 14:03 pmWe are still doing this? it's beyond time to move on. At the moment Arozarena is producing more. Liberatore is 5 years younger which is the only advantage I see to the trade.

Re: Liberatore for Arozarena
If they end up trading Liberatore closer to his free agency time, it would be interesting to see what we get back. It might start a trade chain similar to how we were able to trace the players involved in the Edmonds trade all the way up to Dominic Leone.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑18 May 2026 17:12 pmWhat is relevant about Seattle needing to proffer a QO or wave good bye bye to Arozarena.... and the Cardinals having contract control thru 2029 of Libby.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑18 May 2026 14:05 pmIt's relevant since both are still active.Adam2 wrote: ↑18 May 2026 14:03 pmWe are still doing this? it's beyond time to move on. Its a bad trade current state, but if they can move Libby for a gem prospect the scales could slide towards the Cardinals. But essentially the Cardinals traded away a 20 WAR player for a replacement level player.

Or if, on the Cardinals, Randy could’ve helped the 2020-2025 teams out, then traded last offseason for a return maybe as good as Donovan’s… for players better than Libby.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑18 May 2026 17:12 pmWhat is relevant about Seattle needing to proffer a QO or wave good bye bye to Arozarena.... and the Cardinals having contract control thru 2029 of Libby.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑18 May 2026 14:05 pmIt's relevant since both are still active.Adam2 wrote: ↑18 May 2026 14:03 pmWe are still doing this? it's beyond time to move on. Re: Liberatore for Arozarena
Liberace probably won't amount to much more than a No. 4 or 5 if he manages to avoid demotion to middle relief or worse. He usually gets worn down by the 5th. And allows a lot of loud contact that gives him an xERA of 5.81. His FIP ain't much better at 5.29. WHIP of 1.51. And -0.2 fWAR. It was a bad, regrettable trade.

On the flip side, they got Willie McGee for Bob Sykes, so doesn't that level the scale out?

True but it's unlikely we would get much in return unless Liberatore catches a gear.C-Unit wrote: ↑18 May 2026 17:16 pmIf they end up trading Liberatore closer to his free agency time, it would be interesting to see what we get back. Just my take on this, and I am posting this as the longest standing critic of Mo on this board.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑18 May 2026 13:58 pm https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... ra01.shtml

1. We all know Arozarena was deemed expendable by the organization because of the viral stream which embarrassed the organization.
2. Mo is gone. It’s time to turn the page on his past mistakes and look at what they are building towards.
3. This is one thing I will defend Mo on, when he made the trade he had no way of knowing that a pandemic was going to wipe out the minor league season and Libby would be out for a year before he could start developing.
4. Teams are going to win and lose trades, dwelling on them is pointless.
5. Arozarena is no longer a Ray, it’s not likely they would have kept him here,
6. The Arozarena trade, Alcantara trade and several other moves were key in exposing severe issues in player development and player roster decisions, this organization needed those desperately exposed so they could be corrected. Mo wasn’t going to be the person to fix them.

it was a terrible trade, and still is.
