Are you thinking of SRV (Stevie Ray Vaughn)….?

I know him outside the forum and he’s a great guy.
That was him! He always had good takes. Better than mine even.

I figured someone would come thru
I always loved his posts and then years ago we figured out that we share a common friend that we’re close with - he’s a good dude and he’s doing great these days….I know he still posts during the season.
You guys talking about SRV1980 or the other SRV?
That’s him -

I've had some interaction with him. Always thought he was a good guy too.

This thread is making me realize that we’re surrounded by good people here and I’m legitimately embarrassed at how I’ve reacted to certain people over the years because of a sport. We’re all here because we’re fans with a lot more in common than not.

And it says I joined in 2024 and I'm positive I joined in 2011. I've noticed the number of post is off also but It's OK though, no big deal. Whoever takes care of all that stuff has a lot to do. Anyway I swapped books to read with the poster I was looking for, I believe he was from St.Louis City. I live out in the country and we used to joke aroung with each other about that. Maybe he'll see this and speak up.
I think what happens is, every few years the Post Dispatch swaps out whatever back end platform they're using to host the forums. Each time it happens, it seems to wipe out everyone's user history, but you can still log in under your username etc. I suspect one of those changeouts happened in 2024, which is why your "joined on" date reflects it.

Beatoni! Yeah, He was a great poster. The nostalgia in this thread is indeed pretty high.

I wonder where a lot of these folks are? I know a couple of them have passed on to the great Blues Talk forum in the sky, but I suspect several of them have simply had evolving priorities in life...had kids, switched jobs, graduated from school, etc. and aren't on the forums as much.

For me personally, this has always been a really good distraction/escape from whatever s**t I've had going on in my life at any given moment over the last 22 years, so I've never really lost interest and am always lurking.

Thanks for the info, I appriciate it.
If I remember correctly in 2024 the admins were clearing out inactive users and inadvertently trashed a ton of active ones by mistake, which reset everyone’s “Joined On” to whenever they next logged in at the time.
There was one before where over half the forum got suspended and banned for a thread. It was mentioned earlier it was a "hot girl" thread or something to that nature, and if you so much as typed a word in it you got suspended at minimum but banned most likely no matter your posting history.

I was not on the forum that day so I missed it, but that's when one of the guys made the other forum. Never really saw a whole a lot of a traffic though, don't even know if its still around to be honest.
I joined that forum and yeah, the traffic was minimal and eventually crawled to a stop. I don’t know if it’s still around either.

It’s easy to do when it’s just anonymous screen names.
Don’t sweat it.

They either cut off bleeds internet access at the institution or he's dead. I've been around here since 2010 and there was absolutely no way that guy had the self control to create a new screen name and not go right back into his same old schtick. Bleeds (theo) has been gone since before the Olympics.

I know others have said he and verson were the same guy, but I will go to my grave saying they weren't. Someone figured out who verson was because he posted and was kicked off of several forums and Facebook groups for the same exact act he had here. They found the facebook profile of a guy named Karl Stahnke and I swear to god it was the exact same rants on the guys page as he had on here. Whether it was about loving Jake Allen or hating Trump, the writing style and content were exactly the same. His love affair with Jake Allen was real unlike bleeder who chose "Jakin it" Allen to be the anti Brian Elliott. Bleeder had a way of picking a player to pump up so that a good portion of the board would automatically hate that player just because bleeds was pumping his tires. If you have facebook search "Karl Stahnke Jake Allen" and it'll be just like old times used to be around here. I believe the Karl dude died in 2019.

Bluestalk forum and it’s still there. Not a lot of traffic but it’s 99% bullshat free….just good hockey discussion. I still post there as do some of the others that left here and never came back.

Clark spent a majority of his time on the movie, TV and food fourms. His average post was appx. 1293912389 words. He was a huge ridiculous name dropper. He always claimed to be some sort of Hollywood and STL insider because he may or may not have been a DJ at a remote AM radio station in the middle of nowhere AZ and also likely used to sling pancakes at Uncle Bills. He had numerous aliases, would get caught arguing or replying to himself constantly, it was mainly just sad and pathetic. And then he found the sports fourms. Gross.

I sure wondered what happened to RobbK too if he was the poster from Canada who traveled the world I thought. I was thinking he was in his 70’s a few years ago so he could be in his 80’s. Me and and few others are 70ish so I hope my name & others won’t be brought up on a thread like this!

Yup, still here but haven't been posting as much as RL is keeping me away a bit.

STL in IA/MN is also lurking these halls.

I remember when Jokinen played for the Blues for like a minute, someone took the gif and switched out the waffle for a giant toasted ravioli and I about died laughing.

ah yes. Battra is another good one as some folks have mentioned. And yes, the mystery man Siberian Tiger, forgot about him.

Separately...count me as one of those who's also a little surprised that Seattle is banned. Could he be a little prickly sometimes, maybe? But in the grand scheme of things it seems a little excessive for him to be banned. Good poster, he's probably watching those Thunderbirds games and would have good insight.
Battra was a great poster. Was Nighthawk on here or the Cards board?
Battra was perhaps the most congenial posters in here ever. I don’t think we aligned politically based on some of his posts, but he made his points if he disagreed with you in a very fair manner. And if you disagreed with him he responded in a very polite way as well. He knew his hockey. Always respected his posts. Glad to read he is doing well.
I actually hung out with Battra a few times, soccer games, river otters games, and we had lunch one day at Hobos in St. Peter’s . We were friends on Facebook but he stopped talking to me because of differing political views.
Batt's was cool, and yes his political views also changed our relationship, which I miss having him on this board.

He was the first person to respond to me when I started a thread stating that I thought the Blues were going to draft TJ Oshie (my first thread). My thread count was at 1 (mine) for like two days before Battra responded by simply saying "why do you think they'll draft TJ"...

I do miss Batt's.

I also miss Willy, Irish and others...

I moved to MN a few years ago so…yeah, updated it. :)

I think I had the word Chicago in my name back when I lived in Illinois but don’t recall exactly. That would’ve been 20+ years ago. Apparently I tend to identify with geography..
