Re: Rumored price for Kyrou
Well this needs proper perspective to understand.
Not that long ago, Kyrou was a hot asset. The entire team this season and much of last season have slumped terribly with late season fire. Captain traded, etc.
Teams will think 4 years of Kyrou is a risk in his current state.
It's possible someone will come with a good offer, but I have no expectations. If he's really thought of as a problem, maybe he is even dumped like Lehtera.
I would otherwise expect no one to offer enough until next year's TDL, when Kyrou will have 3.2 seasons left on his deal with a mod-ntc at the end, and will have proven that he is still fast and effective.
I'd be asking PIT about some of those 2nd rounders.

Furthermore Kyrou is signed to a reasonable contract for the next 4 seasons, which enhances his value even more.dr0zombie wrote: ↑10 May 2026 11:03 amI don't know why people feel this is too high. They are not going to give away a 30 goal scorer (on a notoriously defense first team) for a second and a smile. On a team like NJ Kyrou should be good for 30 goals for the next 3-5 seasons. That puts NJ back in the playoffs and makes that first a mid to late pick. A mid to late first and a good prospect is reasonable for a 30 goal scorer. Kyrou might just be the piece to allow NJ to weather the Jack Hughes constant injury storm.Unfathomable wrote: ↑10 May 2026 10:13 am Bruce Garrioch: League executives say that Jordan Kyrou of the Blues...is available; you’re looking at a high-end player, a top prospect and a 1st; “The Blues want a king’s ransom for him,” a league executive said - Ottawa Citizen (5/8)

Still think Nj makes alot of sense for kyrou. SEA makes alot of sense for us but I dont think he waives to go there.

Then that’s a stupid ask and Armstrong needs to come down to reality and own the mistake he made rather than rely on someone to bail him out for it. Another example of the massive ego Doug has.Unfathomable wrote: ↑10 May 2026 10:13 am Bruce Garrioch: League executives say that Jordan Kyrou of the Blues...is available; you’re looking at a high-end player, a top prospect and a 1st; “The Blues want a king’s ransom for him,” a league executive said - Ottawa Citizen (5/8)

I still hold out some hope that he would consider dealing him to jersey in a deal for Nemec.

Well, it is good that you are not running this team lol.zamadoo wrote: ↑10 May 2026 11:37 am Well this needs proper perspective to understand.

Re: Rumored price for Kyrou
It is highly unlikely Kyrou is traded this summer. He is coming off a down year, just had knee surgery and has a no trade clause. Beside Kyrou, the Blues currently have only one true RW (Snuggerud). Just because they have a 19 year old RW (Carbonneau) with some promise doesn't mean they afford to trade their second best RW.

Re: Rumored price for Kyrou
A real factor to me is the NHL overall environment.
There are many teams that want to add a high scoring piece.
Other teams are looking to make big changes ( not sure Kyrou fills many of those types though).
After this year, Kyrou’s contract real dollars will be around 6.5 million per year.
Many teams have plenty of cap space and nowhere to spend it, outside overpaying mid-range UFAs.
This creates a good sellers market.

Someone in that thread on X proposed:
Kyrou to the Sens for Fabian Zetterlund and a 1st, Id be all over that if possible. May be too much of an ask tho. Gots to get more toughness somehow tho

Why would you want to trade Kyrou for a journeyman winger and the last pic in the first round? Am I missing something here?SameOldBlues wrote: ↑10 May 2026 14:28 pm Someone in that thread on X proposed:

Also, I don't think the Sens are allowed to trade that pick if my memory is correct. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑10 May 2026 15:23 pmWhy would you want to trade Kyrou for a journeyman winger and the last pic in the first round? Plus, no way Kyrou waives to go to Ottawa. Maybe the only nhl city outside of Buffalo or Montreal that is harder to get someone to say ok to a trade to when they have a no trade.clemonsonroots wrote: ↑10 May 2026 15:26 pmAlso, I don't think the Sens are allowed to trade that pick if my memory is correct. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑10 May 2026 15:23 pmWhy would you want to trade Kyrou for a journeyman winger and the last pic in the first round? Agreed.Frank Barone wrote: ↑10 May 2026 13:31 pm It is highly unlikely Kyrou is traded this summer. He is coming off a down year, just had knee surgery and has a no trade clause. Until Snugwow scores 30 in a season, I think the team needs the scoring threat Kyrou provides.
In the last five seasons, Blues players that have scored 30:
Tarasenko (1)
Buchnevich (1)
Kyrou (3)
Still need a 2C, allowing Dvo to develop properly. Hopefully someone who can take draws and distribute well. Its the team's biggest need IMO. Trading Kyrou sends the wrong message to the team and subtracts that previously established 30 goal threat. Why would the GM subtract players that can score?
Snugwow is amazing, and I hope the board doesnt turn on him if he struggles a bit next year. Sophomore season, the opposition will gameplan for him. Kyrou provides that scoring depth playoff teams have.
