Rumored price for Kyrou

Post by Unfathomable »

Bruce Garrioch: League executives say that Jordan Kyrou of the Blues...is available; you’re looking at a high-end player, a top prospect and a 1st; “The Blues want a king’s ransom for him,” a league executive said - Ottawa Citizen (5/8)

Still think Nj makes alot of sense for kyrou. SEA makes alot of sense for us but I dont think he waives to go there.

Asking for the moon doesn’t hurt anyone.
As a fan, believing that the Blues will get the moon for Kyrou is just foolish.

I agree, Bubble. I have fairly low expectations for the return, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Of course the other part of this is that Bruce Garrioch is generally clueless, so not sure how accurate this might be.

Kyrou is going nowhere. He is attached by an umbilical cord to Armstrong. The franchise will fold before Armstrong allows his son to be traded. In his eyes, he’s a cross between Brett Hull and Maurice Richard.

I agree he's going nowhere. IF that's the asking price, either we'll get it, or he'll be a Blue next year.

The pain and anger with this one is real. It's kinda funny.

yeah, you can ask but... that's a very high price and I doubt they come close to that if he's traded

I’m fine with it. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t be. I don’t get the sense he’s some clubhouse cancer. He had the season we all hoped we’d see from him in 2024/25, got rocked in GM1 of the playoffs, then had what many feel was an up-and-down season plagued by injuries; which culminated in a knee operation.

I was at that infamous Sharks OT Win at Home and saw him receive a breakout pass with a good couple feet get erased and knew something was up, then. The speed/explosiveness was not there.

Armstrong has tried to trade Kyrou numerous times previously. This is an uneducated statement or you just don’t pay attention

Yeah I’m not sure where the umbilical cord talk is coming from. It’s literally a known fact that Kyrou has been on the block numerous times. But, I guess…ignore the facts when you’ve got a narrative to promote.

Some of you quickly forget and perhaps should get that checked.

What was the get for Schenn?
Colorado’s first-round pick in 2026, New Jersey’s third-round pick in 2026, forward Jonathan Drouin, and goaltender Marcus Gidlof from the New York Islanders

What was the get for Faulk?
traded to the Detroit Red Wings by the St. Louis Blues on Friday for Justin Holl, a first-#15 overall and third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and forward prospect Dmitri Buchelnikov.

And some of you have the unmitigated audacity to request EVEN LESS than we got for two players PAST THEIR PRIME while Kyrou is JUST ENTERING HIS PRIME.

Unbelievable.

I don't know why people feel this is too high. They are not going to give away a 30 goal scorer (on a notoriously defense first team) for a second and a smile. On a team like NJ Kyrou should be good for 30 goals for the next 3-5 seasons. That puts NJ back in the playoffs and makes that first a mid to late pick. A mid to late first and a good prospect is reasonable for a 30 goal scorer. Kyrou might just be the piece to allow NJ to weather the Jack Hughes constant injury storm.

so in both cases a 1st, a 3rd, a cap dump and a warm body. Amazing returns for sure for what went the other way, but look at trades across the NHL.

Other than the Quinn Huges trade, when have you seen a top player and a top prospect and a first get moved in the same deal.
then ask yourself, is JK25 worth Quinn Huges even up?

I think he should absolutely ask for this return publicly but there is no way that's what his final offer returns.

While I can see a decent blue chip prospect. It's hard to see a first coming along with that. A third. Sure. A second maybe. And for a elite blue chip I'd throw in a first.

I could also see two first.
But Something around a Shane Wright type prospect/player and a first. Seems about right.

I hope they are not just looking for futures.

If any team did counter such a demand it marks the beginning of negotiations.

This is how it's done and imo the right approach.
