Then you should have no problem with Dube. Not only was he found not guilty but the judge in question issued a statement from the bench stating that the charges against him were neither, "credible or reliable." Hand this man a contract he has earned it.Rollin' on the River wrote: ↑08 May 2026 10:14 am Not for certain things, no.

It was criminal. When your victim can’t remember exact details, whether because of drugs, alcohol, or physical and mental trauma and when 3 of your teammates physciallly threatened her with golf clubs and then in a group chat decide to all go with one story, you’re not innocent of anything.Tony Palazzolo wrote: ↑08 May 2026 12:18 pmApparently the courts disagree with you. You got lucky.
Dube is bottom of the barrel scum. And will always be bottom of the barrel scum. Along with every other player in that room and in that lawsuit.
All this thread is doing, is exposing who the disgusting sickos are that excuse behavior like this because the guy “might be good enough for the 4th line”
I’m sad for the daughters any of these “men” might have.

If not illegal and by the judgement at the trial is wasn't (almost impossible to prove in a case that old and with 1 witness) it was 100% immoral and there are plenty of 40 point players the Blues could go after that don't have that cloud hanging over their head.

There are SO many issues with Rolling's trolling I don't think I can cover them all.
1. He was not convicted of a crime.
2. The circumstances of his involvement in the incident are primarily second hand accounts at best.
3. No sane person supports sexual violence. That very likely includes all of us.
4a. Redemption and forgiveness are concepts to consider seriously.
4b. Scarlett letters are not.
5. Dube has legal rights.
6. He served a suspension and was reinstated by the league.
7. I believe most of us are just saying he appears to have earned a shot at getting back into the NHL, based on the current circumstances and his play.
8. None of us presumably gets to decide whether or not he gets a shot with the Blues.
9. No amount of sanctimonious grandstanding is going to make this guy go away. Others connected with the incident are actively playing or coaching in the the NHL Playoffs.
10. All said, you are free to despise him. You have cast your stones, we have witnessed these acts.

Re: Dube
The honest answer is idk. I know the details of the case and that he was acquitted but you also have to factor in potential reputational damage to the org. I’m sure the Blues have a ton more info on it all than me though - a more detailed understanding of what all happened that night (regardless of what could or couldn’t be proven in court), Dube’s part in it, how he is as a person now as well as what the likely perception around the league would be if they were to sign him.
But given what I know, I’d be hesitant to sign him to a NHL deal. He’s a guy that could probably be a good 4C but is he worth the potential headache and baggage? Wouldn’t it just be easier to find someone else, go with Finley or see if Dean can work his way back on the map in camp?
I paid attention to the case pretty well and my sense is the girl didn’t make it all up but I also absolutely got the impression that Mikey McLeod was by far the worst perpetrator and it’s possible the rest of the guys didn’t fully know she really wasn’t all that into it. But it’s all a big he said, she said and she seemed timid as heck and didn’t really voice she wasn’t into it so I wasn’t remotely surprised they were found not guilty as there just wasn’t much of any proof, especially once the judge threw out a lot of the previous depositions from the accused that were a lot more damning than what they said in court this time around.
But again, the Blues would know the circumstances and the player way better than I so if they do decide to give him a NHL contract, I’d probably hesitantly be ok with it.
But even if the Blues feel he is completely innocent, or feel he’s a better person now and are willing to give him a 2nd chance, teams still have to weigh if he brings enough talent to truly be worth the baggage. I question if a guy that looks like he could be a solid NHL 4C is truly worth that baggage. It’s a harsh way of looking at it but businesses have to weigh potential risk/reward all the time.

None of us know the circumstances of what happened that night. He was charged and stood trial. He was found not guilty and the judge went out of his way to admonish the credibility of the evidence.
Ott was sent down to Springfield to right the ship and has been around Dube for months now. I would assume Ott would be a very credible source regarding Dube and how he has acclimated himself.
If he had been found guilty, that’s one thing but he was found innocent and the evidence against him was called into question by the judge at the trial. Army/Steen should bring in Ott and have a long discussion about Dube and what he is bringing to the table. I would think Ott would be a key figure in deciding if Dube has anything to bring to our table. Just being charged with something isn’t enough. The trial itself should have shed some light on the crime and Ott should have a lot of input on what Dube should have to offer to the Blues.

What do you think he could be? He turns 28 this summer. Forwards tend to peak around age 23-27. It’s not like he has a ton of growth potential ahead of him.

I question what diligence the Blues did as none of us know. Did they just ask Dube what he’s learned from the experience? How he’s grown? Did they talk to the accuser? Did they run a private investigation? Did they just accept the verdict as sufficient? We truly don’t know. And we don’t know what would be enough for the Blues. And I don’t mean I think the Blues are immoral, but I think we’d find a wide variety of opinion on this board of what would be sufficient diligence.
And in a rape case with the amount of time that passed, the amount of maneuvering between civil and then criminal courts. The efforts from third parties like team Canada and on the accuser’s side also, it’s ok to admit that we really just don’t know one way or the other.

Would you take your car to a mechanic that had been accused of stealing the contents of another customers vehicle, was found innocent but there was definitely something shady done by said mechanic or would you just go to another shop that didn't have a bad reputation?

I think 3c and not by growth as I think that is what he already was/is. Its not a question of whether he can or has grown into that as much as a question of whether he has/can maintain that level.

I'm left wondering what the point is in even questioning the Blues due-diligence? They are the employer, employers deal with this kind of stuff. There are laws, guidelines, policies, and those may vary in different situations. And risk assessments. Is there REALLY a concern the Blues are not a competent corporation capable of making these decisions?
