Also, he's 26, not 22. He's in his 5th season- not 2nd or 3rd. Dude will be Arb 2 this winter.

IFFFFF he happens to go on one of those one month streaks, then I would move him in a heart beat, but if he doesn't ... Maybe you could sucker someone, but what would you get back? Not much. The stock answer to every position right now on CT is Torres, buy he is no third baseman. Right now this team has no real heir apparent third baseman in AAA. Pieto and Saggese don't really move the needle. Fermin... nice utility guy, but not your third baseman. Wonder if RR could learn to play third? Who else is in the minors that is an up and coming third baseman? I don't follow our system in detail... JJ could probably play it, but no way am I messing up the chemistry he and Winn are developing up the middle.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑08 May 2026 09:18 am The biggest contribution Gorman is going to make to the Cardinals is whatever they can get back for him. Batting avg. .203 .205 .221
OBP .271 .296 .291
Slug .400 .377 .377
OPS .671 .666 .667
OPS+ 87 90 91
This. is. who. he. is. He has only one season with a WAR over 0.7. This season his defense is noticeably better, his batting avg is a little higher, and his strikeouts are down from the mid-30% to 29%. Perhaps someone would take a look at him? Three contenders that need upgrades at 3B who also happen to play in parks very amenable to LHH, the New York Yankees, the Athletics, and the Philadelphia Phillies. IF there is a market for him, they should explore it.

Jalin Flores at Peoria and Deniel Ortiz (injured) at Springfield. Neither is close. Replacing Gorman is not an insurmountable task, and whether they trade him or not doesn't change the work the team needs to do. They need to find a 3B whether Gorman goes, or stays.bccardsfan wrote: ↑08 May 2026 09:28 amIFFFFF he happens to go on one of those one month streaks, then I would move him in a heart beat, but if he doesn't ... Doubt I woiuld be in the minority when I say we are looking forward to Bloom selecting a 3rd baseman type this summer with one of our first 3 draft picks.
Be nice to ‘hit’ on a good one.

Blaze jordan has mostly third at memphis and has been hitting well but i dont know how his defense is there if it is not unplayable he might be worth a shot. But as sure as sunrise gorman will have a hot streak and mel will pat himself on the back and the same posters who fall for it every year will fall for it again and say he looks like ancompletely different hitter and has figured it out then he will go back to sucking and at the end of the season his numbers will suckbccardsfan wrote: ↑08 May 2026 09:28 amIFFFFF he happens to go on one of those one month streaks, then I would move him in a heart beat, but if he doesn't ... It doesn't look like there are any legit third basemen available when the Cardinals draft in the first round.

Re: Great win but Gorman seems hopeless
Per MLB.com - "Blaze Jordan is primarily viewed as a first baseman due to limited range at third base, despite having the arm strength for the position. While he has worked hard on his agility, his below-average speed and sub-par range suggest his long-term defensive home is 1B, though he can play 3B in a pinch."Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑08 May 2026 10:24 am

From what I saw of Blaze in ST, I don't think he has "blazing" speed or quick moves, but yaneverknow....Maybe he can field 3B at roughly MLB average level. He couldn't hit in ST, but I see he is killing it now in AAA... He certainly would get a shot if Burley went down with an injury. As for stormin norman, you nailed it. He will have that "meeville wet dream" month and become the unicorn, only to turn back into the uniKKKorn shortly thereafter. Sort of like Lucy and Charlie Brown and the football...... The pitches he swings at are laughable. There is no reason for a pitcher to throw him a strike.Galatians221jb1 wrote: ↑07 May 2026 23:59 pm Either he’s uncoachable or inept. I was under the impression that there was a reason that Blaze played more first base than third base. And that it wasn't because there was some hotshot at third base blocking him.rockondlouie wrote: ↑08 May 2026 08:55 am Recalling the useless J.A.G. Saggese instead of B. Jordan was baffling.![]()

Either way, I'm selling harder and harder on Gorm. He just isn't it. He's showing the risk that existed when he was drafted. He's going to be, at best, .230ish hitter with considerable power but not enough contact in his bat to really unlock it.
I look at Murakami in the south side...he's also hitting around .230...but he also has 14 homers to go with it already. He's also walking at a considerable pace...OBP around .360ish. Gorman is hitting around .220, OBP-ing less than .300, and has five homers to his name.
Gorman has K'd less...but he still K's a lot, and provides little value otherwise. If he's not slugging, he's not valuable.

They are letting him play more 3B this year, probably in hopes of developing some options behind Gorman. Apparently he did a lot of conditioning work over the winter. They may want to see if that has made him more viable at 3B.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑08 May 2026 11:21 amI was under the impression that there was a reason that Blaze played more first base than third base. What's your point? I know what Gorman is and it sure doesn't seem he's a unicorn. But I don't think that calls for the hate. Especially considering the op screen name.11WSChamps wrote: ↑08 May 2026 10:25 amYou been living under a rock the last two seasons?2ninr wrote: ↑08 May 2026 05:47 amThat's not real Christian of you there " Galatians" calling a guy inept and stupid because he had a bad baseball game. I'd ask duce about that strummer, but nothing would keep him from DHing when Herrera is behind the plate.

would still produce a lot more than Victor Scott. .951 OPS this year so far, and he's taking walks, gets on base. Can play CF and a much better arm too.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑08 May 2026 09:05 amHe will always be available. Crazy power, but poorer bat to ball skills than Gorman. Also, he is trying very hard to be selective at the plate, and yes, he fails. But laying off the bad pitches in that AB and getting the walk is a good sign. He is still susceptible to the high heat and the off speed stuff. That change up made a lot of guys look bad yesterday.... Stormin' Norman is who he is, but at least the D is passable. He can sure crush a mistake though... Barring injury, he will be our third baseman this season most games..... deal with it. If we had a really good OF bat, with Church in CF.... then Norman could drop a spot....
Now he’s being promoted today and will probably never become available again.
Re the strikeouts - sometimes players learn what not to swing at at the MLB level. See Walker.
