I haven't been following how he's doing. To me, he screwed up but it wasn't criminal and he's already paid a heavy price. If he's proving himself the Blues should look at it as a gift and give him a chance. I have a 19 year old boy and I can tell you they are all dumb(donkey). Just goes with the territory.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑08 May 2026 09:18 am Technically while it’s currently a PTO, he’s repping the Blue note right now anyway. I’d kind of be shocked if he’s not signed to at least a two way deal and given a shot.

Not for certain things, no.Barney Fife Lives wrote: ↑08 May 2026 08:18 am I would think that this time playing under Ott and along with some of our future players is ideal and that he has earned a 2nd chance.
Rollin - don't you believe in 2nd chances?
Not for stupid life altering decisions I don’t, No.

They could do worse. But why reward people like him? Simply because he’s a good athlete?TBone wrote: ↑08 May 2026 08:20 amThey could do a lot worse. One of those boys legitimately cried that he had to learn to work a skid loader because he couldn’t do anything outside of hockey.

Im sure I have some hate coming my way for being so….rigid. But there’s just some thingsI don’t compromise on. Especially being a two time girl dad.

He was very young, and I believe he was not even convicted, although there was certainly some bad behavior in bad choices.
I would ask that, and even some of the older players have his behavior has been and if it looks like he’s learned and grown up, give him a second chance.
Right on cue.

If hope you’d raise your son to be more like Drake Batherson, coward he may be, rather than like the other 7-8 boys who got away with a crime.

We already gave him a second chance. Blues gave him new life and hes made the most of it. Doesnt mean the Blues will sign him. Another team will. He has been given a chance and hes played great.Rollin' on the River wrote: ↑08 May 2026 10:21 amHere comes the “we all did dumb stuff at 19” crowd.SMSU2MU wrote: ↑08 May 2026 08:53 am I believe the team started the turnaround when he arrived. The Blues did their due diligence before signing him to the PTO. Hes just being confrontational. I doubt he really cares. Just likes to go against everybody to be spiteful. Look, I personally applaud your principled stance regarding sexual violence. I'm not a girl dad, but I have worked some with victims. I hope you're equally stubborn when it comes to Quenneville, though (or, were you one of the ones saying Beach at 6'5" just couldn't be a victim)?Rollin' on the River wrote: ↑08 May 2026 11:10 amWhat are you talking about?DawgDad wrote: ↑08 May 2026 10:54 amFeel better? That said, we don't know what all Dube did or didn't do on that night. He was charged and acquitted. Yes, most actual rapists are acquitted because of how difficult allegations are to prove. No, acquittal doesn't mean you or I have to forgive him.
But what aren't we forgiving him for?
I don't know if Dube learned his lesson or not. I don't know whether he's suffered enough or not. But I believe it's possible to make amends, and I believe the Blues due diligence would have included asking him probing questions about his conduct on that night, his attitude about that night, and his actions since.
Suppose he had no actual contact with the girl. Suppose he wasn't wielding a golf club. Suppose he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Should he be shunned for life?
Suppose he's taken classes to educate himself. Suppose he advocates for consent based sexual education. Suppose he volunteers with victim's groups that will have him? Should he still be shunned for life?
I can't say you're WRONG to condemn him - I just don't know enough of the facts. But I think there's a possibility that he has earned another chance, and as a fan I kind of have to trust the Blues management to determine that - at least until such time as they prove they'll put winning over character.

I would as well. I think Ott said it best, he is proving that he is an NHLer. Lets send a message to the AHL team that if you work hard we reward you. I would like to see him signed to a two way contract as well.
