Per Michael Whitaker of Clutch Points.
He wonders if there is a match for Kyrou for the Columbus first round pick at 14.
It would be good for the Blues, Kyrou and Columbus.

If Kyrou thinks St Louis is dull, wait until he gets a load of Central Ohio

Re: Proposed Kyrou trade to CBJ
The Blues do not need more mid-1st draft picks or young prospects. If Kyrou is traded, the return should be NHL-ready talent. This proposed trade would be a salary dump for the Blues, which makes no sense since the free agent pool is bleak.

What about
Kyrou for Cole Sillinger or even Voronkov plus a pick or prospect.

Oh yes but they do, especially if they have their eyes on movin up. The Blues should trade him for #14 straight up in a heartbeat, unfortunately I doubt Columbus would.

Re: Proposed Kyrou trade to CBJ
I disagree.
The Blues have major team and organizational depth issues at the 2 hardest positions (center & RHD) to fill.
I would absolutely take that #14 pick for Kyrou. Columbus can't be that dumb, can they?
That trade might hurt the current Blues team, but would help the organization immensely.
Am I the only poster left that wants the Blues to stay the course and even add to the youth movement?
It seems most of the talk is about adding veteran players.
I'm not looking to add expensive players that are on, or near the back 9 of their careers.
I don't expect the Blues to be ready for primetime until 2030.
It's going to take time for guys like Dvorsky, Jiricek, Lindstein, Fischer, and Carbonneau to mature.
Adding 3-4 quality prospects at the draft this year will help give us a 2nd wave of players in the pipeline that will be needed to build a top team.

Im right there with ya. I actually want to groom our own stars abd have a long contention window, seems like most around here couldn’t care less about winning and just want a couple over the hill stars from other teams and would be happy as hell with some more 1990’s first round exits. BUT AT LEAST WE HAD A CHANCE..derp.

I get what your saying to a point but I believe you need to have pretty balanced mix. I strongly believe that why Buffalo has struggled SO long because they have been so young now the players are maturing and they finally figured it out!SameOldBlues wrote: ↑08 May 2026 05:34 am Am I the only poster left that wants the Blues to stay the course and even add to the youth movement?

If the right deals are presented, then you take them. Adding a real solid vet or replacing Kyrou with one doesn't mean we're going full tilt just yet, and I would agree we shouldn't be moving out all of our futures at this moment.
I would move Kyrou for the 14th and a prospect or young player that fits, but I might also take a 1st and 2nd in next year's draft. Four picks in a single 1st round doesn't seem too smart to me. Need to spread those over the years. Or, I really think this team needs to move up and get better quality.
I mentioned this in another thread, but maybe multiple trades or a 3-way makes sense to get the #2 or another top pick. In this case, move Kyrou for #14 and then use three picks to move up.
Or something like Kyrou and #15 for #14, our 2nd back, and another pick/prospect.
