I agree on Dvorsky. At 20, he was leading his national team to medal games at the olympics as the number one center. Is he ready to be a number two center next season? More than likely not. Will he be down the road? More than likely, he will imo. Do we view next season as more of a season to keep progressing, but take lumps in order to develop, or are we going to be going hard at competing to start making strong playoff pushes? If it is the latter, we likely could use a number 2 center who is legit. If it is the former, I think Dvorsky as the number two while Suter/Buch operate as the number 3 center will be a fine scenario. Best case, we have one of the top 3 centers in this draft fall to us at 11, In a couple of seasons, you would have Thomas/Dvorsky/and that pick operating as your top 3 centers for several seasons, and in the meantime add a center to play the 2 or 3 center position on a 3 year deal.bluetunehead wrote: ↑07 May 2026 08:19 amI’m kind of baffled reading people suggesting that Dvorsky can’t be the 2C. We should see what Dvo learned after his longest season, his most most games played - by far- and see if he has worked on his first few strides come September. He has the pride and desire, I believe and he may not be too far away.
He broke Olympic Records for a rookie and he has everything except the conditioning for a long long season and those first few strides.
He does not turn 21 until next goddanged month.
Give him a chance to learn and work things out and grow

I have said this before but the hockey trade the Blues should be targeting is shane pinto for kyrou. Similar ages kyrou makes a little more. A solid center, kills penalties can anchor the second line. Not spectacular but solid. Ottawa cannot score and has depth at center (somewhat contingent on what giroux does).. Kyrou would fill a need especially if he bounces back. Straight up hockey Get her done Leery!.

The Blues have been hesitant to issues contracts higher than the Robert Thomas contract up to this point.
You make an exception for high end scorers like Robertson and if Thomas doesn’t like putting up 100 points a season between Robertson and Snuggerud? Trade him or tell him to deal with it

Dvorsky will 100 percent be a 2C in this league one day. It's just a matter of will it be in the next 2 years when something special could be brewing in STL if he made that jump. Or will it be when he is 28 years old and people that haven't had kids yet are now taking their 2nd grader to a hockey game?
I was also high on Robertson at the beginning of the year. He looked like a cap casualty for Dallas that they just cannot afford. They are truly a cap strapped team. When their cap gets more flexible 2 years from now, they will only have 13 players under contract and 45m to work with. If they decide to keep Robertson, they are going to have to move existing contracts on to field a viable hockey team.
The Blues being able to make this kind of trade is viable, but the cost only went up. Robertson had a great season and then he backed it up in the playoffs too. Producing 8 points in 6 games in a losing effort is great play. It's what McDavid and Draisitl do. If the Blues wanted to make a trade like this, it's more expensive than Auston Matthews, Brady Tkachuk 1st or 2nd overall pick. Robertson is in the tier of players that would be labeled hottest commodity in the league not named celebrini.

as well as there hasn't been anything stating he doesn't have the ability to a 2c. I would like us to get someone to fill in for another year or possibly 2 so he can develop on the third line with a few young guys as well. Him, Carbonneau, and Stenberg would be a pretty dynamic and defensively responsible 3rd line that in 2 seasons would be an incredibly dynamic and defensively responsible 2nd line. I could easily see that line put up 150+ points or so combined while all being on the plus side in a few seasons.bluetunehead wrote: ↑07 May 2026 08:19 amI’m kind of baffled reading people suggesting that Dvorsky can’t be the 2C. Maybe from a hockey standpoint, but Pinto signed a four-year extension in November and Kyrou has a NTC.IsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑07 May 2026 08:57 am I have said this before but the hockey trade the Blues should be targeting is shane pinto for kyrou. Agree. Way to soon to think Dvo can't develop into our 2C. I wouldn't close that book until he's probably 24. That being said, I'd still like to add another legit C prospect that has 2C potential. If in 2-3 years we have three good C's that's not a problem I would crying about. What would be bad is that Dvo develops into only a 3C and we have no solution to center that 2nd line.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑07 May 2026 09:21 am

I'll never understand the Rantanen addition by the Stars last year unless they were just going for the SC these past 2 years and nothing more. It makes zero sense to me to lose Robertson over the decision to acquire Rantanen now that that experiment has failed.

Re: Another Option Jason Roberston
they had one of the best defenders in hockey with heiskenen, perceived top 5 goalie with otter, and their top line had proven to be a number 1-3 line in all of hockey for multiple seasons. People forget, 3 years maybe 4, dallas stars top line got them to the playoffs by outscoring the rest of their 3 lines combined. They went all in because it looked like they had a chance to win a cup. They were really freaking good last year. Just because they didn't win a cup, doesn't mean they weren't one of the best 4 teams in hockey. Them and the Avs were legit, bummer that series had to happen. Seguin going down this year takes them from having 2 elite top lines to 1 with a hodge podge in the middle and a good 4th.succinct712 wrote: ↑07 May 2026 10:13 am I'll never understand the Rantanen addition by the Stars last year unless they were just going for the SC these past 2 years and nothing more. Shooters shoot. You have to take a chance at some point. Robertson outperformed expectations and kept getting better.

You have a season to essentially negotiate and find out if he wants to stay. If he doesn't then you trade him at the draft next season, but odds are, based on history, we generally get the players we intend to keep extended.skilles wrote: ↑07 May 2026 10:17 amHow do you deal with him only being signed for 2 years?TheJackBurton wrote: ↑07 May 2026 10:14 amAgreed. Depends on what we send. If it's something like Dvorsky, a 1st (#15) and a top prospect, then no I'm likely out.skilles wrote: ↑07 May 2026 10:38 amLittle risky for me in our current situation.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑07 May 2026 10:25 amYou have a season to essentially negotiate and find out if he wants to stay.
