Another Option Jason Roberston
The Blues have options 3 #1 picks and cap room.
Dallas does not have cap space and does not have a #1 pick.
Robertson is in his prime at 26 and a three time 40 goal scorer. Makes 7.75 Mil and will command 11 Mil, but would be an impact player for 5 plus years.
We would have to unload Kyrou for this to happen. I also mentioned Hirshcer and Nemac as also possible options from NJ.

I think you’re estimating low regarding him costing $11M/year. I’d guess $12M AAV. Would the Blues be willing to pay him that and give up the assets needed to get him? I doubt it.

I just don't see ever investing that on a winger.
Hirshcer and Nemac I'd have lots of interest in but Hirshcers contract(or lack of one) is a problem for us.

Trying to think outside the box with our picks to get a player to go with Thomas,Holloway,Snugs,Dvorsky,Stenberg and Carbonneau. If they can deal Buch or Kyrou to get an Inpact guy I'm ok with 11m or 12m for a proven stud prime 40 goal scorer. Judging by deals the Blues do not cross the 8.1 threshold with salary. I think they are closer than most think.

Thomas has Holloway and Snuggerud. Who’s going to center Robertson?Ventomiglia wrote: ↑06 May 2026 21:26 pm Trying to think outside the box with our picks to get a player to go with Thomas,Holloway,Snugs,Dvorsky,Stenberg and Carbonneau. The Blues have no shortage of scoring wingers. They don’t need a 12M 40 goal scorer. They need two things on offense: a legit second line center (it isn’t Dvorsky) and a large physical winger that can play in the top six and pot 20-30 goals (this is partly why Brady makes some sense).

I would take Brady also. Will command more picks and players because he has two more 8 M years. Then 11-12 Mil like Roberson.
I like 15 pick for a Power guy Belchetz that is like Brady. Would love him.
Thanks for the thoughts!

I agree with your take on Robertson. Money best spent addressing other needs. I also believe the Blues could use a big top-6 winger BUT I don't see it as a must-have. As it stands he would be 2nd line, perhaps Mr. Big - Dvorsky -Carbonneau. In that scenario I'd prefer a playmaking LW. If DD stalls out at 3C then yeah, ok.WilliamWestcliffe wrote: ↑06 May 2026 21:57 pmThomas has Holloway and Snuggerud. As for BT, no. If he wants to play in St. Louis when his contract can be extended then perhaps ok, but it would be GM suicide to bring him in now.
I view BT as the hot chick guys salivate over but never get. It's an image stuck in St. Louisan's minds. An image. The reality is somewhat different. Is he a good player? Sure. I would point out the 24-25 Blues showed FAR better in the playoffs than BT and his Senators did this season. The Blues went up against the President's Trophy team and did a number on them phyically without BT. Ottawa and BT got swept by Charlotte. That's not a definitive take on BT but it's real, he didn't handle the situation as well as the BT image would suggest.

I am not a personnel manager, but if we can’t trade Kyro, Buch, and or some appropriate picks or youngsters to get a fine second line center… I give Dvo a second full year. That means Buch is still here and Suter is a fair middle six as well.
We should see what Dvo learned after his longest season, his most most games played - by far- and see if he has worked on his first few strides come September. He has the pride and desire, I believe and he may not be too far away.
He broke Olympic Records for a rookie and he has everything except the conditioning for a long long season and those first few strides.
He does not turn 21 until next goddanged month.
Give him a chance to learn and work things out and grow

100% Agreed. People here are going to be massively disappointed with our moves this summer or lack thereof. This team is still rebuilding and incorporating youth. They're not going all in on a move to put them over the top, nor should they. Dvorsky will be getting his chance to stick as the 2C this season short of an unexpected young center being available in trade which would push him down the depth chart.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑07 May 2026 01:05 am I am not a personnel manager, but if we can’t trade Kyro, Buch, and or some appropriate picks or youngsters to get a fine second line center… I give Dvo a second full year. They have no shortage of wingers that can score. But they have none that can score like Robertson.WilliamWestcliffe wrote: ↑06 May 2026 21:57 pmThomas has Holloway and Snuggerud. But I agree on the other two points. A big banger on the wings with some snarl would be nice.

Re: Another Option Jason Roberston
If we're going this route, maybe we could swing two players of those that have been mentioned?
Using our three 1sts this year and maybe some future draft capital plus any or all of Buch, Kyrou, Suter, and maybe even Neighbours... could we land two of:
Robertson
Tkachuk
Hischier
Nemec
Knies
Matthews
(others mentioned or rumored available?)
I'm not sure who on this list is actually available, but I'd have no problem acquiring one or more of them to play here long term rather than drafting where we are and going with the same lineup.
Hard to believe DAL would trade us Robertson, or that NJ would trade us their captain. I'd take Nemec in the right deal, but not sure we need him.

I know most of us are beyond ready to be rid of him, but he is an asset and all it takes is one to believe he's fixable.
What is a realistic trade? I honestly don't know.

Re: Another Option Jason Roberston
Good short assessment. I don't know what is realistic either?
Let's see how the Draft goes and focus on getting another solid Centerman via whatever avenue, and then focus on Mr. Kyrou. I don't think we should undervalue him, but work to find someone who thinks they can "fix" him, for a reasonable payment. It has to at least feel like a win-win.
I'll say it again, yes we have cash, but we'll have cash needs in the not too distant future for new contracts. We need to do better with the cash we pay Kyrou...as well as for Buchnevich, but Kyrou likely has more potential for interest by others?
Finally, I like DawgDad's thoughts re fingers-crossed for a decent talent physical LW at #15, if not then another Center. We need Centers, not just 4th line Centers!

Re: Another Option Jason Roberston
I’m kind of baffled reading people suggesting that Dvorsky can’t be the 2C. He’s 20 coming off of his rookie season. He’s going to continue to grow into the role. I obviously wouldn’t turn down another solid young center if the option presents itself, but we have to give these guys time.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑07 May 2026 01:05 am I am not a personnel manager, but if we can’t trade Kyro, Buch, and or some appropriate picks or youngsters to get a fine second line center… I give Dvo a second full year. Re: Another Option Jason Roberston
With the cap going up, no great options in UFA likely, and teams able to keep their RFAs (except for maybe Dal and Vegas), the trade market will be a huge sellers market- driving up the dollar value on some of these contracts. I would not be shocked to see Robertson get 13 to 14 AAV.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑06 May 2026 21:14 pm I think you’re estimating low regarding him costing $11M/year. I’d guess $12M AAV.
