Thieves know the owners aren't coming back any time soon.
Fact: The incident you referred to occured at one lot, near St. Raymond Cathedral. One parking lot out of how many?? It is unfortunate and shouldn't happen, but it was ONE lot.OldRed wrote: ↑03 May 2026 09:39 amStrange you see it that way. Thieves know the owners aren't coming back any time soon.
Fact: As noted in another post, car break-ins outside of stadiums, arenas, and concert venues are hardly unique to STL. I did a quick Google search and found similar stories from Charlotte, KC, and elsewhere this year. Again, not justifying anything, just pointing out that this isn't an only-STL problem.
"If it wasn't on the rise, it wouldn't be reported." Huh? You think crime is only reported when it's on the rise?! As has been reported previously via the STLMPD and the various STL TV stations (as well as a recent, very insightful St. Louis Post Dispatch op-ed), crime in St. Louis City, including Downtown and Downtown West, is on the decline and has been for the past few years.
STLMPD: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://slmpd.org/wp-content/uploads/20 ... -March.pdf
St. Louis Post-Dispatch: https://www.stltoday.com/opinion/editor ... 4e12e.html
KMOV: https://www.firstalert4.com/2025/12/31/ ... ief-tracy/
KSDK: https://www.ksdk.com/article/news/crime ... 6884a425b9
No one is justifying any car break-in or other crimes but to state that these incidents are "on the rise" or to say there aren't facts being presented is disingenuous.

You sound like a 25-year-old who has never been anywhere. I've been to 49 states and many, many major cities and have attended over 200 MLB games and probably 50 NFL games and I was never worried about crime. I walked blocks to games at old Busch on Grand and never thought a thing about crime. But as one gets older, we are all little more cautious of our surroundings. As I originally pointed it is the job of the Police to make the areas feel safe. When I worked downtown at the old Globe [political party] there would be a patrolman at night that would walk you to your car for safety. All I did was report the story. I guess everyone has to make their own choices. I would not attend a night game at this age unless I take the Metro-Link.alw80 wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:25 amCities are scary, aren't they, Red?OldRed wrote: ↑03 May 2026 08:55 am This not good to hear or read: Multiple cars broken into during Cardinals game Friday night.

As some have noted, it happens in quite a few downtime stadium areas.OldRed wrote: ↑03 May 2026 08:55 am This not good to hear or read: Multiple cars broken into during Cardinals game Friday night.

But it is also true that it is far less common in some cities than it is in STL.
I have been to a number of venues where I would be very comfortable parking in a lot near a stadium on a Saturday night.
STL is not one.

One of the best two song combos of one bleeding into the other, ever. You should start a post of those songs, lol.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑03 May 2026 13:09 pmThat’s a great verse.DewittDaman11 wrote: ↑03 May 2026 13:08 pmIt's shaking like tremmelo, baby!sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑03 May 2026 13:03 pmVery very nice catch. Re: Cars broken into last night
they are breaking into cars.. not stealing them. ask the cops what most are after and you will hear guns being a very common theme. you can't take your gun into the stadium but alot want them nearby for comfort. If you are going to a game leave the guns at home and the car empty of anything obvious, the windows down with a sign that says no gun on board and i bet you get left alone.Melville wrote: ↑03 May 2026 12:55 pmAs some have noted, it happens in quite a few downtime stadium areas.OldRed wrote: ↑03 May 2026 08:55 am This not good to hear or read: Multiple cars broken into during Cardinals game Friday night.

rural areas are the worst - we had to clean out FIL house before the locals found out he was dead - apparently they would have broken in and stolen everything!alw80 wrote: ↑03 May 2026 12:35 pmMeanwhile, Red lives in some podunk haven for meth.icon wrote: ↑03 May 2026 12:04 pmThe big, bad city. I leave nothing of value in my car. Certainly nothing visible through the windows.
