Weekend night….great weather…..Ohtani in house…..Cards winning streak.
In any year not last or this……this would’ve been a standing room only sellout. Great damage was done to fanbase
And this isn’t about INFLATION…..consumer spending is at all time highs.

entertainment? I haven't been to a sporting event since Covid and I've been to 41 mlb parks with
6 or 7 to go. My daughter just got a full-ride scholarship to the School of Engineering at Washington
University 20 miles from where I live so I finally am thinking about visiting solo some game buying
Discounted tickets online.
I've been waking up happy since mid-February since she earned a scholarship worth $98,000 and was told
By admission she will have around $1800;for spring break.

I have to disagree; consumer spending is at a time high because of inflation. People are choosing wisely how they are spending their money. But I also agree great damage was done to the fan base in the last couple of years.

Which partially accounts for the increase in consumer spending. Unemployment is still low. Wages having been growing. High to mid earners are flush with cash. Low income are feeling it but I don’t think that most of the butts who used to be in seats at Busch were low income.OldRed wrote: ↑03 May 2026 07:44 amI have to disagree; consumer spending is at a time high because of inflation. Studies of MLB fan demographics indicate that:
$75,000–$99,999/year is a common income bracket for regular attendees.
Lower‑income households (below $50,000/year) are less likely to attend multiple games per season due to cost constraints.
Higher‑income households can afford more frequent attendance, sometimes multiple games per season, while mid‑income households may limit attendance to special events or premium seats.
These stats are for all MLB teams. I would imagine St. Louis is at the bottom of $75,000-$99,999 income bracket for regular attendees. Thus, in my opinion inflation in the St. Louis has a huge impact on fans attending games.
The Cardinals don't show or list season tickets sold as they once did, and I would imagine season ticket sales are way down from what they were say 10 years ago. I know a few people that once shared season tickets and they quit or reduced the number of games they attended because of price and product on the field.

You really need to some research on the economy before posting. I've tried to help you. Ownership has had a problem, but inflation and corporate buying of season tickets has also hurt attendance. I'm glad inflation has affected you. But food prices and gas prices are a major contributor to how people spend their money. Major league attendance is down in many cities this year. Did you notice the attendance at the recent Pirates series?Goldfan wrote: ↑03 May 2026 08:36 amRed, you have to admit that financial conditions through that period was much worse than some high gas prices of today.OldRed wrote: ↑03 May 2026 08:34 amWell, I showed you facts and now you are moving the goal posts.Goldfan wrote: ↑03 May 2026 08:32 amThrough the Great Recession where Millions were losing homes, jobs, life savings…..which isn’t happening todayOldRed wrote: ↑03 May 2026 08:21 amGoldfan wrote: ↑03 May 2026 07:51 amWhich partially accounts for the increase in consumer spending. having one's car broken into and those repairs don't help eitherOldRed wrote: ↑02 May 2026 07:09 amNear $5 bucks a gallon for gas won't help matters either. I drove to buy a bag of bird seed yesterday and figured it cost me $5 just to drive and buy it. I actually thought 28,000 was a good crowd considering the state of the economy. I realize this post borders on things other than baseball, but it is reality and it does affect how people spend their money on entertainment. The Cardinals are playing great baseball, just think if they were not.

You’ve been equating cards’ low attendance to the ‘rebuild’ all offseason. Now it’s the economy?OldRed wrote: ↑03 May 2026 08:48 amYou really need to some research on the economy before posting. Fans tired of it…..and now the halving of payroll. So BDW is in a SHOWME period. Who knows if fans will return ….
