To some posters it’s the most important thing.

I'm gonna guess that the Cardinal fans, however many there were, liked the game.

Saw a lot of Dodger blue but you see a lot of Cardinal fans in opposing stadiums.

Are you sure it is more like fewer people wanting to spend their money on expensive forms of
entertainment? I haven't been to a sporting event since Covid and I've been to 41 mlb parks with
6 or 7 to go. My daughter just got a full-ride scholarship to the School of Engineering at Washington
University 20 miles from where I live so I finally am thinking about visiting solo some game buying
Discounted tickets online.

I've been waking up happy since mid-February since she earned a scholarship worth $98,000 and was told
By admission she will have around $1800;for spring break.

I'm sure I heard Chip mention a huge Friday night crowd.
That's low considering how well the team is playing, it was a Friday night, and the Dodgers are in town. I think finances drive a lot of it. Life is expensive and St. Louis isn't wealthy compared to other MLB cities.

It's a step in the right direction to tease 30k, while the economy is continuing to take steps in the wrong direction.

Near $5 bucks a gallon for gas won't help matters either. I drove to buy a bag of bird seed yesterday and figured it cost me $5 just to drive and buy it. I actually thought 28,000 was a good crowd considering the state of the economy. I realize this post borders on things other than baseball, but it is reality and it does affect how people spend their money on entertainment. The Cardinals are playing great baseball, just think if they were not.

Hey OldRed, I hear you. I found a way to hold that cost down. I don't know about where you live or if you have a "Home Depot" where you live; but in my town, Home Depot will deliver my 3 20lb bags of wild bird seed for $2.99 delivery charge! Most times it arrives in a day. It is a 12 mile round trip to the store, so that is a great price and I don't have to carry 60 lbs of seed. Just a thought to look into.

I don’t think your post borders on anything other than baseball. Assuming we’re allowed to post about things like attendance, you can’t ignore factors like the economy. It’s going to cost a lot just to fill up the tank and drive to the game. It’s going to cost a lot to pay the outrageous prices for parking near the stadium. It’s going to cost a lot to go to a game against a team like LA because of the dynamic pricing, and even when the price is low, who wants to go to a weekday series against the Angels or some (bleep). And then you have to pay out the (donkey) once you get in there.

Maybe it would help if businesses could think of anything other than milking every last penny out of fans and things could change. People are smart and they realize this and get fed up with it. But that trend only seems to be getting worse, the enshitification of everything continues unabated, so I wouldn’t bank on it changing.

You also can’t ignore that some people are afraid to drive downtown because you might see some things that are scary to you, like (god forbid) seeing a homeless person. And yes, downtown sucks right now. I work downtown and there’s not much going on. Like with the above, I don’t see that changing any time soon either.

Was there birds'

Not a "huge" crowd by any means which really surprised me given Friday night (no work/school next day for most), the way the team has been playing (very good, exciting baseball) and the opponent (two time defending WS Champs loaded w/stars).

Not going the rest of the weekend (my tixs for Sat & Sun were in demand) but expect well over 30,000 for both games.

Yeah...that's probably also in the equation. Getting to where stadiums are pricing potential fans out of the game...but also the fact the Cards haven't been good for a few years while having a bloated payroll and a manager who isn't that bright. Winning brings in fans.
