I was begging for BDWJr to hire him OR, Tito is a great Manager who's taken this Reds team and turned them into a playoff team almost overnight.

How I wish C. Bloom is allowed to hire someone of Francona's pedigree when Oli is gone after 2027 (fingers crossed).

Bloom has hired all of his top notch development guys. None of us know if he really likes Marmol and is happy with him or if that is ownership's call. Certainly Bloom could find a better manager than Marmol. But it hasn't happened, and probably will not for some time. The reds will come back to earth, but they still may win 90 games and the division. Who knows. I had the cards at just over .500 (being an optimist). We need pitching more than anything of course, and either some guys will step it up, or it will be a long season. Not a ton of help in the minors, but again, let's see what happens. This is the year we get to see JJW and Church develop, and we hope Walker and Gorman make strides. We hope the minor league pitching develops. Next season they could be competitive, even without a great manager.... I try very hard to cut Marmol slack (not that he cares), and just when you think he isn't that bad, he pulls nonsense like throwing away that last game in Miami when there was already a scheduled day off right after... sigh....

Oli's a mediocre Manager, hopefully just keeping the seat warm until Dewitt starts to spend after the new CBA is in place.

Rock, you and I generally agree most of the time. Let's hope you're right about the CBA Theory. Like I said, I always try to cut Oli a little slack, but he can never go more than a game without doing something really stupid, like pulling a picture at 75 pitches after 5 innings who is doing okay when the bullpen is totally gassed. Sigh..... He just does this stuff all the time.

Look at payroll bcc, Dewitt has been slashing it now for two years wanting to get it as low as he could before the new CBA is in place.

Love him or loathe him Dewitt is a sharp businessman who's built a $4+B fortune.

He's doing this "re-tool" right before the new CBA is put in place knowing this will (should) give C. Bloom a bazooka payroll ($170+M?) to fire at free agents and acquire experienced players via trade after 2027.

That's when the system should've filed multiple prospects to the Cardinals and still be fully stocked.

Dewitt always gave Mo money to spend, Mo just spent the bulk of it unwisely.

I have no doubt as he reaches his middle-upper 80's Bill, a baseball lifer, wants another winner and will spend for it when the time (after 2027?) comes.
