With his speed hitting cans of corn is not the answer.
By all accounts he is very conscientious about wanting feedback and wanting to get better. He just isn't getting better.
Cranny assured me that all the fancy new tech gadgets, Bloom Farm miracle workers would fix all these issues plagued upon the team by Mo World.
Maybe they just need to find players with real natural talent rather then trying to BUILD a player from middling foundations

While I do not have a hoss in this race, it does behoove ownerhsip to use every reasonable tool to develop their players' talents. It is good player- and fan-relations, too. I hope these young players benefit tremendously from these new technologies.

Nootbaar’s days with this club are numbered. He is a FA after 2027. The chances that they sign him to an extension are zero.
Only reason he should and will get any playing time is to hopefully sucker some team into thinking he can help them so he can be traded.

Nootbaar has been one long disappointment.

Absolutely and immediately!

I lived in Germantown, TN, a suburb of Memphis. The City of Memphis, hard to believe, is even WORSE and more crime-infested than the City of St. Louis.

And other than Germantown, there are far fewer nice suburbs of Memphis.

Couldn't wait to get out of the area. It's mostly a dump.

Why Torres hasn’t been recalled is a complete mystery. They put him on the 40 man roster, then completely ignore him.
I mean, really, what else does the guy have to do to get a promotion? I don’t care how old he is, if they can 5 good years out of him, that would be great!
He’s simply been an on base machine in Memphis.
It would seem that Chaim has fallen asleep at the wheel and is just letting Marmol steer the ship. If he’s not careful Marmol will have then run aground before too much longer.

I wasn't really referring to living there, just visiting. Had some good times.
I wouldn't live in St Louis city either.

Hi Riff,
I totally get it. There are areas of Memphis which are way kewl to visit, but you gotta be really careful to stay in those areas. Like Beale Street. Great place to spend an evening. Just don't wander too far from there.

I honestly hate to dump on ANY city or metro area. Let's face it, all metro areas have their slums and bad areas. I grew up in North County STL (Hence the name Hazelwood) and I wouldn't want to live there now. Next was south suburbs of Dayton OH, then Memphis, then back to STL, then to suburban Chicago (Naperville), then to suburban Houston (Friendswood), back to STL, back to Friendswood, now 25 miles NW of Downtown San Antonio.

Seen the good and bad in all.

But just not a fan of Greater Memphis. Nice folks in Germantown, but in general my least favorite of all as a place to live.

Understood. And yes, wandering from Beale Street is a no go.

Rendezvous offers outstanding BBQ certainly - but I would advise partaking only in daylight and in a large group.
Autozone Park is nice - but let's be real, the attraction is the Cardinals connection.
Peabody is a nice place to stay - but don't cross the street.
Reality is, Memphis is a dirty, crime ridden dump of a city.

Unfortunately, Mel, I must agree. It's a shame, really.

As a 72-year-old, I am sad about the decline of many American cities. My career took me worldwide, and I felt safer in many cities in other nations. Lots of root causes we could discuss (and honestly argue about) in other forums. For now, I won't go there, since I want to keep Cards Talk about baseball, sports, and our Beloved Birds, rather than politics and urban issues.

Back to watching hockey....I'll get back to CardsTalk a few weeks from now. (Too bad the Blues aren't in Stan's Can Tournament, but I still enjoy "The Fastest Sport of All".)
