Mathews

Post by Melville »

A long way away.
Now 16 BB's issued in 15.2 innings this year.
After 74 in 99 innings a year ago.
I warned last offseason that he should be traded as part of a package before his stock fell even further.
Those who were foolishly expecting to see him in STL this year and contributing are going to be very disappointed.

Is there an arm issue? Or is it a head issue?

Not necessarily. As Juan mentions, it could be physical or mental as well.

Cjinte had a nice line last night. 4.2 3 1 1 3 4

Ryan Mitchell a premium draft pick from last June is hitting .167 for PB

Galle had a clean inning

Baez and Crooks hit dingers for Memphis.

Didn't watch just box score scouting

Ouch!
Fact is he had one good season three years ago. Window is closing on him to be anything more than a rotation filler/BP arm.

He doesn't seem to have the control needed to consistently get more than one time through the order.

Always the chance he could thrive in the BP which would be great. Time to move on from him being apart of any real future rotations.

He had very, very little trade value even then mel, nothing more than some other teams equally disappointing prospect.

I've moved on from him just as I have from Hence & Roby, they're nothing but lotto tickets now.

With LHP, it's not necessarily a linear process. It is frustrating, but sometimes it's like flipping a switch.

That sure is true. That's what Liberatore did. Mathews still has higher upside than Liberatore.

I'm losing faith on him as a starter. Maybe he could be a good 2016 Andrew Miller type pitcher.
