Mathews
A long way away.
Now 16 BB's issued in 15.2 innings this year.
After 74 in 99 innings a year ago.
I warned last offseason that he should be traded as part of a package before his stock fell even further.
Those who were foolishly expecting to see him in STL this year and contributing are going to be very disappointed.

Re: Mathews
Is there an arm issue? Or is it a head issue?

Re: Mathews
Cjinte had a nice line last night. 4.2 3 1 1 3 4
Ryan Mitchell a premium draft pick from last June is hitting .167 for PB
Galle had a clean inning
Baez and Crooks hit dingers for Memphis.
Didn't watch just box score scouting

Re: Mathews
Fact is he had one good season three years ago. Window is closing on him to be anything more than a rotation filler/BP arm.

He doesn't seem to have the control needed to consistently get more than one time through the order.

Re: Mathews
He had very, very little trade value even then mel, nothing more than some other teams equally disappointing prospect.Melville wrote: ↑21 Apr 2026 21:22 pm A long way away.

I've moved on from him just as I have from Hence & Roby, they're nothing but lotto tickets now.

Re: Mathews
That sure is true. That's what Liberatore did. Mathews still has higher upside than Liberatore.10CWilliams wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 09:17 amWith LHP, it's not necessarily a linear process. It is frustrating, but sometimes it's like flipping a switch.

Re: Mathews
I'm losing faith on him as a starter. Maybe he could be a good 2016 Andrew Miller type pitcher.
